Thanks Deenur, really good advice you're giving out.

It's funny at work I'm surrounded by colleagues that just hit 50, but most of them are in no position to give out good life advice. I can learn a thing or two, but most of them still do questionable stuff to this day. I guess what I want to say is wisdom does not come automatically with age. Seeing as I don't have a father to turn to (parents divorced when I was little, never had any contact), I appreciate what you're sharing.

I'm 25 now and still don't have my sht together, I hope I will till the end of this year though. Repped and subbed.

What do with close, long term friends who are confused and keep trying to pull you into their poverty efforts into getting out of their slump?

"Hur durr, going through a break up and feeling insecure as crap but hey, come out clubbing with me so we can have a crap time together"

It's happening to more than half of my closest friends (wanting me to waste time and money by participating in their obvious vain attempts to get out of their slump). I am on the verge of switching on the ignore cruise control.

Have a genuine convo with said friend. Try to get him to crack the vault on his feels. If he doesn't want to change, it may be a time for change for you. When he asks why, tell him you want better for you... and him. Then leave it there.

I was afraid you'd say that. I cannot stand any type of feeling/emo talk. I was hoping to leave them for a few weeks so they can sack up.

If these guys just listened to your advice in the OP and just took time out to absorb it in and clear their heads, I wouldn't be inconvenienced so much.

In particular these points:
-Figure out early what is important; you cannot do this early enough
-Don’t spend so much money on liquor. I could have bought a brand new SUV by now
-Pick a few things and do them well and stick with them, quit chasing random crap

So I've messed up pretty badly with this girl about 8 months ago. We were fighting a lot/not seeing each other/fighting about sex. My insecurities got the best of me and I started texting some sloot for a few weeks. Never met her(and honestly had no intentions of seeing her) but I did send some pretty suggestive texts that my girl found out about. To make things worse I moved a thousand miles away a week after she found out. We kept a long distance thing going for a few months but my work schedule was ridiculous so we had no time to talk. Eventually I quit and moved back home to work things out because I believe she is the one. However, as soon as I got off the plan she ended things. We got back together again a month later but eventually she stopped having sex with me. I figured something was up and that's when she ended things for good. She doesn't want to see me/hear from me and is going 100% no contact. She still has my stuff and said shed give it back in about a months time (when I finish renovating my place so the paintings she made me wont get damaged) my question is how would you handle this? I don't want to move on in the next month because I really think she is the one but at the same time she doesn't seem to ever want to be more than just friends with me again. I know I've messed up big with this one and I know to never make the mistake again in the future.

My marriage almost crashed and burned 13 years ago. We BOTH had to decide we wouldn't quit. That's the only way. If a person is "not the forgiving type" I don't see why you want to hang in. Do you want something she will hold over you from now on? Respect goes both ways, or its not respect.
