I can't respect someone who does something for social status, which is what 95% of men who get married do it for. People wanting to please other people who can't even live up to their own expectations. It doesn't get anymore beta than that. Dead srs.

Not to mention, the unjust laws that about half of them are going to face. Just lmao

Happily married, dik getting wet basically on demand while you ***gots jerk off as soon as you are alone.

Keep contemplating a union based on love while I go about my business. Zero fuks given, time to man up son. Or you know what? Continue with the baby mama drama... Continue bringing bastards into this world. Continue to wonder wtf is going on in your long term relationship.

If you care, if you have to ask like the OP, chances are your not a man yet. Misc has zero bearing on my personal decisions. Many of you are ignorant and scared. Simple as that.

It's not about pure profit gain bro. You're right, if I was a purely profit driven drone I'd never marry.

The reality is she and I have a bond that is unexplainable to somehow who views women with distrust, distaste, and who only looks to smash sloots. The fact is that she and I are best friends, soul mates, and we're happiest when we are doing literally anything together. It's been years and we're only getting stronger together.

We both pick each other up when the other is down, we both support each other no matter what the issue at hand is.

If I murdered someone, she'd show up at my house 15 minutes later with a tarp and a couple shovels and help me bury the body no questions asked.

You're right, there aren't many tangible benefits to marriage. I get that. But we both want a public acknowledgment of our commitment and love, and we're spending the rest of our lives together. Marriage makes sense.

This thread is way too long for what should be a simple answer. The only reason a man should marry a woman is if he wants to have children. An unmarried man has virtually no rights to his child in the case of a breakup otherwise.

Edit: Oh, and this should go without saying, but get a pre-nup.

Didn't ready any replies, but my daughter just turned 9 months old three days ago and if the price I have to pay for her is marriage, so be it.

i have a followup question but take in consideration i've read nothing itt:

how should a child be raised? should there be a mother and father in a household? how should family work?

in most cases there would be a mother and a father who are married with children. the term "daddy issues" arises with children specifically females where the father is not in the picture. so what do you say to wanting children without being married? just have the person as ur gf?

and what are we talking about here? specifically marriage or a monogomous relationship?

thanks,

So the only thing you can come up with is not having bastard kids? Which doesn't really have any impact anyway

If I were to decide to have kids, being married wouldn't be a pre-requisite for me. Raise the kid with both parents present just not married. With divorce rates at around 50%, the legal contract of marriage isn't keeping mommy and daddy together anyway.

Its a simple question, the only people ranting and raving are some of the married people who don't want to just say "it doesn't have any tangible benefits to me, but we wanted to do it so we did".

Two incomes are better than one. You can afford a better lifestyle, bigger house, more money to invest.

Tax and insurance benefits.

Shared resposibilities. You don't have to do all the cooking/cleaning, etc all the time.

Companionship.

You aren't sitting at a bar by yourself eating fried food on thanksgiving and Christmas.

It can be very beneficial financially if you choose wisely.

Inb4 but one booty for the rest of your life, most of you couldn't get your dik wet if you fell in an ocean.

All of that except tax and insurance benefits you can get without being married.
What are the tax and insurance benefits? We don't get that in my country, but if we did that could be an actual tangible benefit that would make me think about getting married.

this is a silly argument. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people that get married think they're marrying "the one." Usually by the time they realize they've phucked up its far too late. Or even better you think you've married the perfect sloot and she does a 180 personality wise once she gets married/pops out a kid.

So your options are to either take the plunge on someone that can change (for the worst) on a moments notice or stay so incredibly paranoid about getting divorced that you never get married.

Which is it gonna be?

I cannot imagine my life without her at this point. I would have never gotten married if she weren't amazing and perfect for me. I love my woman and while I am not a big fan of the binding contract, it's something plenty of other men would offer her and I am not about to lose her over something that fukking petty.
That's awesome dude, I think you should marry her and I hope your experience continues. I'm not anti-marriage, I think guys just need to be aware of the facts - and then make an informed decision from there. You also need to be aware that her focus will completely switch away from you towards her children, if you go down that route after marriage. But you probably already know that.

Literally laughed out loud when I read this. If you're still having regular sex, you're still in the honeymoon phase of the relationship. Just wait until she pops out a kid or two. All that attention she was giving to you will be towards the kids and when she finally has time for you, she'll be "too tired" or "have a headache" or "the kids are still awake."

or she'll make you feel guilty by saying something like;"All you think about is sex a herpa derp derp"

You don't, but if you want to have kids two actively involved partners is better than one.

That said, it's 2016, so the odds are stacked greatly against men.

I don't believe this for a second, I think the majority of people getting married have a feeling they're not marrying "the one", and I think that because divorce is so prevalent, both parties know there's an easy out if shet goes south in the relationship. I think if marriage was more strict, like the only way you can get out of it is death, there'd probably be a whole lot less people getting married because realistically, they're not ready for that sort of commitment.

People get married due to societal pressure, family expectancy, and a whole laundry list of reasons that don't include love, hell one of my coworkers just got married to a man who already cheated on her and gave her an STD. What sense does that make? I'm sure they'll be divorced within the next couple of years.
Nope
