is hair genetics?

I'm a boy and my hair is pretty fcking bad, I despise it. its dry, hard, coarse, impossible to style with gel/wax and it seems like no matter what I do, I cant get that soft silky hair I've always wanted. my brother on the other hand rarely washes his hair, but he got soft silky hair. I think this is genetics because he got my moms hair genetics (she has soft silky hair) and I unfortunately got my dads horrible hair genetics (he has bad hair)

so is this purely genetics and am I doomed or do I have a chance to get rid of this hair I despise? I want that soft silky hair

Try only washing you hair ~2 days/week and apply a light amount of coconut oil when your hair dries out to a damp state, drink more water, and allow your hair to regulate itself. If it's still coarse, then try something called the LOC method (Liquid, Oil, Cream). Also make sure to get your hair thinned if it's impossible to style, and make sure your ends are maintained.

Forgot to mention: If you're applying styling gel/wax to your hair and not washing it out properly, then you're going to be getting a lot of build up that could be fuking your hair up. For this, you'll want to make a solution of ACV and water, 1 tbsp to 1 cup respectively, and use it as a clarifying wash to really make sure you have all the product out of your hair and off your scalp.
what about anti-permanent at the hairdresser? will that fix my sh*tty ass hair and make it soft and silky?

I think so, but I've heard from your fathers side and also from your mothers fathers side. As to which or if either is true, I haven't a clue. I seem to be going bald but it's happening very slowly, feeling blessed=:-)

I used to hate my hair too OP until I considered the alternative. Just be happy that you still have hair. I know I am.

If your hair isn't like this:

Then there's no point in getting a relaxer. All you'll be doing is damaging your already dry hair for no reason.

Try washing your hair only twice a week, use an SLS free shampoo, switch your conditioner to a 'cone free' conditioner, clarify weekly, use coconut oil on damp hair to work as a sealant. If your hair is still coarse, try using some sort of cream (like cocoa butter) after applying the oil to add more moisture/make a deep conditioner with honey (honey works as a humectant, which is just a fancy word meaning it helps hydrate your hair by attracting moisture).
