Bank teller gave me twice the amount of money I withdrew
So I went to the bank Saturday morning to withdraw $2000.00 to buy a ****ty car that will get me through the rest of college. When the guy handed me the envelope I thought it felt super thick, but I figured it was because he put my debit card and drivers license in there. I opened my envelope up in the car and there was $4000.00 in there. At first I felt strongly compelled to bring the money back into the bank, but then I thought about how much of an injustice that would be to all the people who would die to be in my position, so I decided to hold on to it. My bank is also one of the piece of **** banks that got hundreds of millions of dollars in bailout money in 2008, and they got sued by the government for fraud, so it's kind of hard to feel bad for them. I do feel bad about the guy who may have possibly gotten into trouble or fired because of it though.
But that raises another question. if they can track it back to him, can they track it back to me? My receipt says only $2000.00 was withdrawn from my account. I checked my account online and it says the same. Right now my plan is to keep the cash stowed away for a couple of weeks, and if I don't get a call or anything about it then I may start spending the money. Im definitely never going to deposit it, and I'm going to start going to the other location down the street so nobody recognizes me. What are the chances of this actually working in my favor?
On a side note, how do you **** up that bad in the first place? It was busy as hell because everybody was trying to get in the last minute I guess, but you screw up by $2000.00? I almost feel like he did it on purpose and maybe he was quitting that day or something because he gave me this "I got you fam" look when he gave it to me.

simple math on their part, match it to the video cameras(banks are full of them FYI), they'll figure out you got too much and they'll just debit you for the difference
i'd just bring it back and save yourself the trouble, it's probably gonna cost the teller his job no matter what you do

OP keep the money but I wouldnt go around bragging about it.
You will not be debited for 2k lawllll, but that teller wont be so lucky.

if true the teller is prob going to lose his job either way, dont matter if you decide to keep it or give it back.
they have tons of cameras in banks, best believe they will track what happen and figure out it was your account and they will debit it from your account, you could end up in the negative on your account if you don't have the funds.
my advice: if you really trying to keep it, hold on to the money without spending a dime let a month or two go by then you are probably safe.

They have no way to CONFIRM that OP received the funds. No way would his account get debited 2k out of "speculation". The bank has OP's phone number and will at best...make a phone call. Deff odd that the teller didn't count it in front of OP.

i used to be a bank teller
they count their money at the end of every shift. so they already started the investigations process, will time it back to your transaction and view the security footage.
