I hear ya man...It is disgusting. All these people change their mind suddenly as soon as they need you.

Sucks that the media have taken a few bad apples and turned it into this crap.

Hope it pans out dude. Sounds like there is some good money in private security if you go that route.

That's the problem...

Ages ago it was, "Let's cool things down and maintain the peace; as long as everyone's safe it's alright." (Respecting the life, liberty and property of others)

Today its: Everyone is going to be treated like a criminal. Jail them, fine them, and push as many as possible through the legal system.

However, I have a LOT of respect for the cops who use good/common sense judgement. They are always the good guys.

They genuinely care about the community... They act like someone you can trust/talk to/be honest with/etc.

Other cops unfortunately, don't care at all. They'll lie to you and go out of their way to create crime when it doesn't even exist.

It went from "safety" to being all about the "system".

Good for you OP. I don't want unhappy/stressed out cops on the streets, dangerous for all. You've done the community a service by getting out (100% no sarcasm/no insult intended)

you dont like being a cop anymore because you realized you were never serving the people you were serving the government. They brainwashed you with the protect and serve on the car and tell you your job is to protect citizens when all you done is rob people of their time and money and be an *******. You were nothing more than the legal mafia. A lot of the cop hate is justified. You guys are all trigger happy power abuses who take advantage of the system. Most of you were not popular in high school. You are a crook. You guys took my freedom from me for 5 hours because i didnt pay a fraudulent "delayed traffic" ticket. You guy hide in corners wait to get someone so u can rob and steal 8 hours a day.

Ill never need you. In a perfect world ill never see a pig a day in my life. I want nothing to do with you. You are the enemy, you always been. You just been brainwashed.

Good to see you finally woke up.

You became a cop at age 21? That's pretty young man. Im 21 now, but am going to apply for dept's after I finish up my degree. How was it becoming a cop at such a young age? Do you think you would have benefitted waiting till you were a little older?

edit:: a few other questions...

is it extremely important to have good references, and a lot of job experience (say security etc) before you apply? Also, how difficult is the psych evaluation.

Not gone at all. Ive amounted more in my life than any cop at any age i can promise you that. You sold out imo. For every bad guy you catch you rob at least a hundred good hearted people. Ive never had a problem. Im not a criminal. Ive just dealt with your kind too many times too many injustices. You sold out imo. How can you honestly sit here and tell me your not the legal mafia. Your the enemy to me because you never helped me. All you did was steal from me. But you get away with it because you have a gun and badge. Lol at die alone. Im not the one who sold my soul for a pension and low middle class pay

op went about this the wrong way. if i was tired of being a cop and had stuff in the pipeline as well as financial goals, i would have just went on the job and shot a few innocent kids. then, i would be put on administrative leave, and i would still get a paycheck and no longer have to do the cops job. that way i'd have a paycheck while i worked on my other business. most likely, i would be brought back on the force and promoted and i could just do the same thing again and get an even better paying administrative leave. sure, it might cost the city millions in taxes and a few citizens, but i would think to myself i'm a cop and this is what i wanted to do.

yeah i got quite a few but ready to put it all in the past. but the night i had a gun pointed in my face is when it all started to change for me. was going to check on a suicidal guy and he answered the door with a 1911 pointed right at my face. i didn't shoot him or anything and he eventually put the gun down but i quickly realized that as much of a badass as i think i am, i have no control over the fact that at anytime if someone wanted to kill me in an ambush they could do it.

it was the GOAT when i first started. i had so much fun every night man was in love with the job. it was a little difficult getting people to take me serious at the age of 21 tho especially since i was still in the baby face crew. at the age of 21 it is understood you won't have a lot of job experience. it seems like now departments are looking more for education than anything. i would say that as long as your work history is good and your background is good you'll be alright. psych eval is easy as long as you're not crazy, racist, or have anger issues.

I've got almost 4 years in op.

It's tough. I work in a very very small town though.

But I don't make hardly anything. I make half of what you were making. Which makes it even harder.

Not sure what the future holds for myself. Doing this for 25 more years...eh....I don't know.

I want to get into real estate in the next 5 years and continue to build my lawn care business.

It's a tough profession and like you said...you realize fast your life can end in an instant for no reason. You're not going to save the world and I realized that about 6 months into the profession when I was in a fight with a guy with a warrant. Guy almost killed me. It was nuts. All over a stupid FTA warrant.

Your new home looks a bit spartan but i am sure you will be able to furnish it soon enough. Of course once those cars are gone. no need for fancy items like that anymore.

Does it suck being a cop in Denver because of all the stoner hippy bums flocking to Colorado due to the legalized Marijuana? Ive heard Colorado has gone downhill because of that from friends who live there.

Cops are complete *******s. Complete. Never in my life have I ever "needed" a cop. I handle every situation on my own just fine. I don't need some d-bag to show up and start throwing his weight around when he doesn't even know what the fuk is going on. My favorite though is when they confront people who clearly need help or rehab because their lives are chit and instead of helping they aggravate the situation by arresting the person and making them pay thousands in legal fees to fight a case. It's just brilliance all around. So much wisdom in that pigs head. I love it. I also love it when they gang up on someone smaller and intimidate and lie to the person to get them to incriminate themselves. Man those cops, I am so glad tax payers are paying to have them around.

But for real, I gotta hand it to them. They do a damn good job hiding in bushes with their little radar guns issuing tickets to people who commit victimless crimes going a little over the speed limit. That's what I call a REAL service to society.
