Now you see, mothers take their eyes off their kids from time to time. It happens. It also happened to you when you were younger but I guess you also support your mom being punished for it right?
You also see, the zoo and their emergency response team decides how to handle these situations. If they can dart/tranquilize, they'll do so. If they can't, they'll shoot. They are trained for this very reason. The mother didn't make any call, the professionals at the zoo did that. I understand you're upset and you're emotional but you're coming off as someone with some sort of disorder so you need to chill the fck out.

Someone is liable for this and since I HAVE NOT seen any other incidents from this zoo, I am pretty sure the zoo is not at fault because this isn't a daily occurrence.
I will put in simpler for you:
If the mother and that child did not go to the zoo, would this gorilla still be alive yes or no?

Last time:
Saying the mother should burn in hell because she took her eyes off her kids is stupid. You are wrong. You are NOT right. One more time. You are NOT right.
Saying SHE made the call for the gorilla to be killed is like saying you made the call for people to die by stepping out of your house today. Things happen, cause and effect but she didn't intentionally tell her kid to go into the enclosure and she didn't tell the staff to kill the gorilla. They made that call. Should she face negligence charges? Maybe. I don't know the details. What I do know is that psychotic people like yourself help nothing because you're too busy making stupid arguments that make no sense.
Kids wander away from their parents all the time. I did it, you did it, your parents before you did it. If your parents should have burned in hell for it then you're an idiot. Hopefully this sinks into your small, damaged brain but I doubt it.

You're downplaying the action, and give fuk all about the result of said action.
Yes. I agree with you mothers take their eyes of their children. I have done the same to my 8 year old son.
However, none of the times has it result in life or death choices of my son, nor has his mother been in that situation.
I feel that as a parent common sense dictiates you should be a little more careful in environments in which YOU cannot control. IE: traffic, zoos, nature, volcanoes.

Mix in a bit of anonymity and you have the misc. A bunch of people who don't lift except once or twice a week, have self-esteem issues, were dropped as a child and get on the internet to prove how bad-ass they are by saying a woman should be killed because she took her eyes off her kid for a second.
I only hope that most of the people in this forum don't have children of their own one day.
Hell, I grew up in the pacific islands and the villagers used to take me up to the waterfalls and my mom said I'd be near the edge of giant cliffs, etc. If that was 2016, miscers would be calling for my mom to be shot. Dudes in here are going to be helicopter parents to the extreme. Their child will never wander more than 3 feet without some sort of electric shock to keep them in line.

The video shown on cnn is better qaulity and actually shows the gorilla dragging the kid under water while dragging him by his legs.
On a second note, this specific incident isn't the zoos fault. But zoos in America in general.. Fuking who takes animals that are not even natural to your own continent and lock them up in fukin cages for 350 lb fat asses to come stare at them for entertainment while dripping ketchup down their shirt while eating hot dogs.
Merica of peace. Zoos really need to be outlawed.

People who are mad, what would you have done if you were the Zoo director in this situation? Keep in mind tranquilizing the gorilla would not have knocked it out immediately, leaving the boy in danger.

I'm not arguing the mother should be killed or anything like some of the posters here but having her hold accountability over the animal's death is completely reasonable. Let's say you're a mother and your child wanders out into the road. An oncoming driver swerves to avoid your child and dies as they drive off the side of the road. Do you really believe you shouldn't be accountable? Accidents happen but to get off with no penalty is ridiculous.

Evidence: a 4 year old was able to get into his enclosure.

If you're making this argument it needs to be made against all zoos (I don't really disagree with you but this zoo is no different than many others and most likely isn't violating any laws/regulations with the set up they have)The gorilla was shot because the zoo obviously did not secure their gorilla adequately.

Since you're saying the gorilla enclosure isn't safe enough because a 4 year old can get past it.
