i've never understood why people have such a problem with vegans talking about veganism. once you're fully aware of the horrific amount of cruelty and insane amount of damage that is involved with animal agriculture, it's hard to not talk about it.

people who get angry at 'vegans' for simply being vegan and talking about it have deeper issues with either themselves or their own choices.

I'm not ignorant of the importance different creatures have in our world. I'm just saying - and try to see where I'm coming from - that certain vegans have an edge to them that almost suggests that they would rather see 100 humans die than see 100 chickens die.
And I'm saying if someone thinks this way I believe they're mentally ill.

I think (not suggesting you) that a large majority of vegans turn to it as a way to passively channel their self-loathing, depression, and overall frustration and hatred of society.
Veganism gives them an easy way to do this. It's an easy and acceptable way to constantly be angry with human beings without looking totally insane.

That's why all these famous vegan youtubers are all a little not right. There's something off about all of them. Have you really ever met a well adjusted vegan? I haven't. I'm sure they exist but why are so many of them borderline crazy if not full blown bat****? I ask these questions.

Look at every famous vegan youtube channel. Not one of them is what I'd consider a well adjusted respectable member of society. They're all pretty fuked up people when you look closely. This may be neither here nor there but it's something I always pick up on.

Very good post. I'm the same way. I genuinely can't be around people who think it's funny to talk about harming or killing animals, even if it's to eat. Saying that, it's true that everyone has a hierarchy of animals within their own system of morality. Even the biggest hemp sandaled hippy is going to swat the living shiet out of black flies or mosquitoes if they're in the woods. Same goes for ants infesting their kitchen or table. Clearly there are different echelons of life. I only eat the animals I know I could slaughter myself. Not that I would enjoy it, but I'm okay with the logic of it. A fish/chicken doesn't have the cognitive or emotional awareness of a pig/cow/sheep/goat.

At first i didn't understand them and looked at them like sociopaths but once i turned i understood why. Vegans are just trying to end world problems believe it or not, they're probably tired of stupid chit that they have to hear 24/7. *

The "famous" vegans are not representative of your average vegan, they are the most attention-seeking ones who will get more attention by being more aggressive or holding more extreme views.

Well, I second him.

Every vegan I know (most of them 'temporary' or 'casual' vegans) seem to loathe people and society and treat veganism as an outlet to voice their displeasure.

If you're vegan for your own morality, I have all the respect. I love animals and want them treated well, too. The message most vegans seem to promote isn't a positive one.

They have good intentions it's just not the right way to do it. When you're aggressive people ignore everything you say and disregard all your points, when you're passive about i feel people are more interested in it

I don't eat pigs, but where has anyone said that about chickens? Source?

Yes, they feel pain, but they (chickens/turkeys/fish) don't have the awareness to realize what is happening. The pain is literally a second or two. Sheep, pigs, goats, cows on the other hand are higher functioning and have the cognitive awareness to know stressful situations, namely when they are removed from their herds/parents, etc.

Anyway, having spent time working on a hobby farm, I am okay with the logical of slaughtering chickens, turkeys, fish. They don't seem to be aware of much around them and don't live terribly long anyhow. Pigs, cows, sheep, goats, on the other hand, are too much for me. Nobody has to agree with me, but I just can't bring myself to imagine any of those being slaughtered. I certainly couldn't do it. So I don't eat them.

I bet less than 1% of the population is vegan. How many vegans do you know? The only reason you don't like hanging out with vegans is prob cause you feel guilty when you're around them and you try to justify your unethical diet by blaming vegans instead of yourself. I doubt you even know a vegan in real life, just basing your judgements on them from videos you see on youtube.

Most people are perfectly fine with an enormous amount of cruelty toward animals, as long as they get their tasty bacon. Obviously, this is going to make vegans angry toward the majority of society who hold this worldview.

You're reaching here. Don't treat animals in such a cruel way. That's a pretty positive message, at least much more positive than the alternative.

Wrong. I've met plenty. They all have the recurring trait of being socially retarded. I could make a joke here and blame it on their nourishment buuuuut I wont.
I don't think it's because of their diet. I think it's because so many of them use veganism as an excuse to stay angry at people for other reasons that really have nothing to do with animal cruelty. This is what I've observed and what I believe.

Animal cruelty makes me sick but I don't hate human beings because they eat meat. I understand that like in many areas of life people are just habitually uneducated and willfully ignorant. This is a byproduct of the society we live in. It's not good and it's not ok but becoming enraged and emotional about it won't change anything. I'm mature enough to know this. When I hear vegans talking about how people should die so animals can be saved they're automatically dismissed as mentally insane. Most vegans I've met harbour some degree of this attitude.

You're actually reaching really hard to come up with some weird psychological theory to pin on vegans. It just isn't true. Most vegans are people who I'd avoid as well, but it's because the rest of their political opinions are the opposite of mine, not veganism.

If we were not meant to eat meat/etc, we wouldn't have the enzymes to break them down and convert them into useful products for the body.

Exactly the reason we cannot extract energy from grass/leaves/etc.

Nothing wrong with eating loads of veg/grains/etc - but don't try to spread horse-sh** that humans are herbivores. We have an omnivorous physiology, and have had for eons.

Vegans are not the ones supporting the the pollution of the planet and slaughter of over a 100 billion animals every year for human consumption. It seems like people like you are the one who is using omnivourism as an outlet for expressing your disrespect and hatred for life other than your own

You are absolutely correct about our biological ability to digest meat and animal products, OP has no idea what he's talking about in that regard. That has no bearing on the moral aspect of the argument though.

You seriously think fish and chicken have any higher order thinking capabilities? Emotions? Been watching too many Pixar movies.

The mammals I listed clearly function at a higher level. Sheep have even been shown to have facial recognition capabilities. Many of them have familial bonds.
