Bruh. Every zoo I've ever been too for all big "pit" style exhibits it's a 4 foot high chain link keeping you out. I've been to at least 10 zoos and they're are all like this.

Sad we live in a world where your probably right though.

Anybody remember the tiger from a couple years back where the 3 douchebags were throwing chit at it and it escaped and ate one of them and hunted the other 2 before it was shot?

Literally a cement wall as high as the gate that's currently in place would of put the zoo in the clear. Now they're pretty much ****ed because the "gate" that is there is pretty much a handrail. The zoo claims the kid climbed over the gate because it's literally the only liable defense they have. It would be hard for a 4 year old to climb that gate and if he did manage to climb it, he would fall on his face on the other side. Him crawling through the gate would be like you entering a boxing ring through 2 ropes.

The zoo would be wise to settle quick it they don't have video footage of the kid climbing over that gate rather than through it because they would almost certainly be at fault. The barrier between the kid and the pit fall was virtually some bushes.

I understand why they had to do it, sort of, but I sure think there could have been something else they could have done. I think they were afraid that if confronted, or if they tried to take the child away, the gorrilla would have gone ape-chit and probably hurt the child in the process. Still, there has to be a better way.

In this case, the mom was the dangerous and stupid animal for not keeping her kid within reach, therefore, she had put her kid in danger. If the animal is considered a "dangerous" animal, the mom should've had the kid within reach.

There are plenty of kids who've been to that zoo, with its current set up and I'm 100% certain that this was the first case for this type of incident to happen there.

The reason why this happened? The kid was not being supervised by his mom.

Yeah, except it would take approximately 10 seconds for the kid to get into the gorilla enclosure. It's pretty moronic to argue that a parent who is not looking at their kid for 10 seconds is negligent.

Furthermore, if your business model depends on children to coming to see your animal exhibits, you should probably make sure kids cannot easily enter said exhibits.

They should have a trained person at all times to shoot them with a tranquilizer. No animal wants to eat a struggling kid.

I assume a tranquilizer takes at least a few seconds to kick in.. there's a good chance the gorilla feels the pain from it and goes ape chit ^^

Anyway, it kinda looked as if the gorilla was protecting the kid.. didn't even freak out when the kid started screaming.
