I can confirm with OP.
I had graduated college with a 2.0 GPA. After being unemployed for a full year I had given up hope and started applying to volunteer/internship roles. all my friends had jobs and I was very broke and unemployed.
Found an internship for a software company. Learned a ton and from there found an entry level sales job. Did really well, got promoted then found a job with a large corporation. Because this corporation was on my resume every recruiter constantly tried to recruit me. Finally found a sales job where they offered me an insane package that I could not refuse. Currently my base salary is 90,000 and my commissions/bonus help me earn 180-220K based on how well I do per quarter. I make more money than all my friends who killed themselves in school to receive good grades. My good friend is a lawyer and makes 95,000 per year... I make double that. I have multiple friends that are programmers and make more then them. Sales especially software or SaaS sales can make you a ton of $$$$$$

Wow that's crazy OP because I also:
- Grew up poor/poverty/FA, couldn't get girls as a young teen, anxiety, cheated on, broken home, no mentor, everything.
- Very painful childhood, most odds against me. Always said and thought I'd eventually be something.
- Dropped out of high school, tried a weak community college that was basically taking advantage of people (too young and dumb to realize it) failed that also at the very end. First half of my life I failed everything, surprised I made it through life at that point.
- Been a miscer for a looong time, almost 10 years, browse multiple times per week for entertainment.
Around 19 I started working out (right after finding misc) and my face started to mature, I ended up going from not all that good looking to a pretty good looking kid. First time in my life, I started to get attention from girls from it. That changed me a lot but I still had a lot of anger/anxiety/pain and issues in my life. Still.. my looks changing was huge to me because until age 17/18, I was completely FA. More so due to anxiety I had/couldn't approach. Finally... I was pulling and getting a lot. Loved that. Still hard, still made minimum wage.
- At 23/24 I had my lucky break. I had a low/entry level sales job and was very good at it, built a good resume and networked.
- Luckily got a dream job (right place, right time, luck and prepared/ambitious) started at 120k, half salary half commission.
- Over the next 2 years worked my way asking for raises/performing to a full 200k+ income.
Fast forward to current life:
- 27
- Have a house, with a huge quarter acre back yard, 3 bedrooms (just for me) in the most desirable city in my state near all my friends/where we grew up
- Professional career position, salary just about 100k/year, full benefits, commission another 100+ for a total just under $250k/year, which I'm actually hitting this year (first year over 200k income)
- I work from home with no supervision, work however many hours per week I want. Usually around 30
- Travel the country for free, about one 2-4 day trip every 1-2 months. Suit and tie business travel.
- Have a top model Maserati for fun
- Have a nice Cadillac for daily driver
- Hot GF who's successful & loyal (lol I think) and intelligent
- Buy toys whenever, zero debt, well on my way to a million in stocks/savings excluding physical assets
- Will be a full blown millionaire liquid without counting assets

(see misc, this is how you market yourself, I'll probably get a PM from this guy and him and I can swap info on good jobs. Easy foot in the door to another 200k job if I want it.)
Glad to hear you're in it as well. Life is good isn't it.

-Lucky break at 23/24
-Now 27/28
-First year hitting 200k+
And you're claiming that over 4-5 years you've bought a new house, now have (assuming) $150-$200k+ in cars depending on years and models, and are well on your way to $1million in savings and investments?
This isn't difficult math, you haven't even grossed $1million.

Math makes perfect sense. Assuming 8-9% growth in my index funds, I'll hit $1m by about 3 years at around 30-31, with my contributions. I spend about 70k/year, make 250k, invest the rest. Prior years I spent about 45-50k/year and made about 150k, invested the rest. I'm not a millionaire yet but have well over a quarter million liquid and with contributions it's only a quick matter of time. Not even counting combined income which I'm sure will happen eventually.

Actually typing this out, I'm wondering if you're assuming many people in higher up roles are like that? They aren't, that's hollywood stuff. They are usually family men with kids trying to put them through a private school or something.

I'm anonymous on this forum, you don't know me, and this thread has multiple points I'm trying to get across to miscers.
On the flip side, people as bitter as you are coming across right now (could just be in a bad mood, won't judge) are just as bad and I'd say less likely to do well themselves. I've never met a person who does well for themselves who's bitter. I hope you recognize my intention with this thread. I've had this stuff for a long time now, never made a thread about it, and just decided to after reading the "suicide rate" thread.

i can confirm.
i do enterprise microsoft web stuff. client side, server side, .net, design, etc. Work from home. Make good money (6 figures). Few are as good as I am and few willing to consult/travel. I mainly save most of it and live simple.
Will start ballin out next yera but planning on moving to the east coast first and will do after I'm settled in. Don't want to amass too many physical crap here I then have to pay to move.

Nice thread man...good job on the hustle. I'm currently taking a comp programming course in college and hope to get a job as a programmer once I'm done. Main thing is that I don't like it as much as i thought I would have, partly because I don't understand some languages. I have no experience with sales but it would be something I'd love to try. Could you give me some tips on how to get started? Please. Also, does being attractive play a big role in closing deals?

Congrats OP, seriously.
But it really isn't as easy as you make it sound. Some of you act like people don't want to be making 200k.
There's a couple posts above talking about how he makes more than his lawyer friend and all his friends who worked hard to make good grades on college. Are these people not trying in your opinion?
Yeah sales can explode on you and you can make a ton of money. But it's really not the choice of "oh I just need to want it".
There's so many salesmen who don't make anywhere near that.

There's so many salesmen who don't make anywhere near that.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I know many people I work with personally, they are "good old boys" family guys driving Toyotas and feeding a family. Not all, but a good majority. The type of people you describe simply don't make it to this level.Well they have you fooled. They want you to think they are family men. They wabt customers to think they are family men to manipulate them into buying. In a numbers game, there's no room for emotion. Who has the greatest mental prowess? Manipulative charm? Who can wield the finest array of half-truths to convince a customer and close a sale? For those who like to compete for status and feed an ego through the defeat of colleagues, there is no better place to be than sales.

There's sales, then there's large scale business software type sales where it's more like any job. No pressure, no type of competition, more so about building relationships.this you op?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club
but if thread is not trolling, gjdm. being a millionaire is everyone's dream but i'd never work in sales

Or they are in a career that doesn't have a way up financially. Tfw I'm a nurse, 1 year in and making 70 k, will be making 80k as a base salary in 6 more years + over time, but I can't really move up from my base unless I want to just always be at work.
