Baseball or hockey. Both require for specific skill sets to be good at them. Every ass hat who isn't morbidly obese knows how to run which means they've got 90% of what soccer entails covered.

Obviously football (soccer).

Nobody plays rounders (baseball) competitively in the world outside of the U.S so it can't be that.

No you didn't say anything about it. I did. I said it is a much harder sport to play. Anyone with two feet can play soccer. Not anyone can play hockey. You imagine? Then you have never played it and have no clue. I've played both and can assure you hockey is a lot harder. Hitting a major league fastball @90 MPH and faster is harder sure. But hitting a 35 mph ball thrown by your neighbor is not. Talking about the actual sport in general not comparing to the professional level. Soccer is the easiest to play because literally anyone can play it. Can anyone play it against the pros? Fuk no, but they can play against the kids in their neighborhood with very little instruction.

Soccer and boxing are the hardest sports. The stamina needed in both sports is ridiculous. In soccer, control and accuracy with the ball are key components that are often overlooked, they're doing all that chit with their feet. In boxing the footwork alone is difficult to master, not to mention timing and reflexes.

Only problem with that list is it has some arbitrary categories like agility, analytic aptitude, nerve...like wtf?

When someone asks me what the most difficult sport is, I immediately think of a sport that's very difficult to learn and takes a quarter of your life to master the fundamentals to actually play competitively.

Sports like baseball, golf, tennis all spring to mind. Endurance, speed, strength and all that stuff is irrelevant when I think of the most difficult sport.

Mind blown @ the amount of people debating which sport is hardest to play PROFESSIONALLY. OP asked which sport is the hardest to play. In terms of a young kid learning how to play a sport, this is how I rank them.

Soccer: Running around a field and kicking a ball while dodging other players. Skills required: Ability to run, eye foot coordination(lol), lots of endurance

Baseball: Considering were not talking PROFESSIONAL baseball. You swing a bat at a ball being thrown at you. Other team trys to catch said ball and throw it to the basemen in which you are running towards. Skills required: Hand eye coordination, endurance to run from base to base.

Hockey: Ice skating around a ring trying to control a piece of rubber while dodging other players who are continuously trying to slam you into the wall, and hitting you with their sticks trying to steal the puck away from you, as well as having to get the puck around a goalie standing in a 72 inch by 44 inch goal. Skills required: Ability to ice skate well enough to dodge players while keeping control of the puck, lots of endurance, agility, strength to dish out and take hits, hand eye coordination.

I'm sure im missing some skills and such, but these are my first thoughts. Played soccer as well as baseball as a kid. Tried to ice skate once and busted my ass hard.

I would say boxing and other proper combat sports are the hardest just because of the technique, discipline and mentality it takes getting in a ring with someone whose sole purpose is to fuk you up.

From the three listed, I've only played soccer, which I played competitively my whole life, but I think I have to give it to hockey. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the fitness and coordination that soccer requires that I no longer find them impressive, but the hand-eye coordination and skating ability that hockey requires seems to me, as someone who has never played, absurdly difficult. With that being said, competing in any sport at the pro/Olympic level requires the same amount of work. No sport is easy by any means.

It's baseball. Most if not all mlb players start playing around 8 years old if not younger. You never hear about someone who picked up baseball late and turned pro. And just to turn pro you can spend years in the minors toiling away.

people underestimate the physicality of soccer because there are no bone crushing hits like the NHL or NFL but that doesn't mean there isn't a great deal of physical contact

tackling, shoulder charging, boxing out and holding off defenders, there are a lot of very physical aspects of soccer

I don't know about overall. But there's a reason people say hitting a baseball is the single hardest thing to do in sports (in a vacuum).
