His ducking and dodging was minimal. Look at Ali and his speed.
His counter punches were very good. I will not take that away from him.
He abused the clinch in many of his later fights. brb ref has to break it up every 15 seconds.
"Connecting" punches doesn't mean chit if your opponent doesn't feel them. He hasn't had a knockout in years
He may have won all his fights and been successful but he was a shame to boxing and showed just how many flaws there are within the judging system.

Again you just assume I know chit about boxing but you know nothing about me.
lel mayweather wasnt elusive and his footwork was basic. lel strong boxing knowledge

Every fighter in history holds when they get tagged. Go watch Ali -Foreman, you'll find plenty of holding and illegal tactics.

That way the ref would break them up and create the distance he relies on.
How is it a cheap way to abuse the scoring system if nobody has figured out how to nullify Mayweather's game? He's been doing this for decades, everybody knows his style and gameplan before they go in to fight him yet they still can't beat him..

What do you consider a fighter, someone who stands toe to toe and throws heavy hands with defense in the back of their mind?

Not every fight is going to be like Castillo vs Chico or Ward vs Gatti. Not to mention Floyd has had plenty of back and forth wars...those fights however were before he became a PPV star so no one remembers those. Floyd is absolutely a fighter and a great one at that.

Too much of a weight discrepancy between them fight would have had to be at 154lbs...but even than Floyd is a natural 141-147 guy. Gennady is huge. With that being said, I think Floyd's defense is too good. Gennady would be shadow boxing, he'll miss his power strikes.

The better question is, when will GGG man up and take on Andre Ward

Kovalev is a destroyer. But I'm willing to bet Andre pulls the W out. Someone is getting stopped in that fight though.

Point is, if Triple G decides to man up and stop ducking Ward. He'll be handed his first L. Everyone in the boxing community knows that Ward is bad news for Gennady.

At 154 Mayweather has a chance.
At 160 forget it, GGG rehydrates to 180 fight night, meanwhile floyd is around 149 on fight nights. GGG will still be much heavier, but he will be drained by loosing so much weight.

Ward didn't throw the right hand against Barrera. My guess is it's still hurt after the surgery.
I think he gets knocked out in the mid-rounds

i like andre ward in that fight vs kovalev.
His boxing IQ and technique can make him pull this off, although Kovalev is a terrific boxer.
He still needs another 2-3 fights to get his skills and timing sharp.
Right now, Kovalev wins.
It's probably a 50-50 fight

If he's still hurt+Kov's power

I wouldn't be surprised to be honest. IMO if you get Ward at his best vs Kov at his best, I think Andre eeks a dec

The style that gives mayweather the most trouble is a pressure fighter that makes mayweather fight off the ropes on his back foot. GGG is an elite pressure fighter, has elite power and is huge compared to Mayweather. The fight will never happen, and i don't think it should (based on the size difference.) One things for sure, if the fight does happen, it will be mayweather's biggest test and his best victory (if he won)

Yeah that and Ward's suspect chin. Kov's chin isn't impregnable, but Ward doesn't have the power to hurt Kovalev IMO.

When was Ward's chin showed as suspect? He was never knocked down. He literallyateCarl Froch, one of the hardest punchers (if not the hardest) in 168. Ward can take a punch.

Kovalev on the other side was knocked down.

Anyway it's gonna be power vs technique.
Ward showed that he could silence big punchers.
Kovalev on the other side made the distance with B-hop...

Comeon man.... do some research please. Comparing Froch to Kovalev's power LMFAO.

You're gonna be really surprised at who knocked down Ward. Hint: He knocked down Kovalev too!

Hes a few years older than pacquiao.

Im going to give you a very mysterious concept that hasnt sunk in. For every year pacquaio gets older, mayweather also gets one whole year older older. Contrary to popular belief, mayweather does not live in an anti aging time capsule.

mayweather is great on the ropes. The style that hurts mayweather the most is a great jab.

Go watch all the rounds that mayweather dropped in the last 10 years. The majority of them were from a good jab - judah, DLH and cotto.

lol at so many casual and fake boxing fans as usual. Mayweather is undisputedly the most fundamentally sound, technical genius, etc boxer that has ever lived. There may be some disputably more athletically gifted, such like Roy Jones, Pernell Whitaker, and Ray Leonard, but as far as having full adaptability, no one even compares.

People only think Mayweather is boring, because he's not there throwing the same gameplan and combinations, dude literally just sits there trying to find your weaknesses and abuses them while finding your strengths and taking them away from you. Most boxers are trained to do this, but none were ever as efficient as Mayweather.

There are reasons why so many people, even boxers praise this dude, not because he has high status and lots of money, but because he's seriously a genius in the ring that most who know little to nothing about boxing don't understand.

I don't know how you can say stuff like that. But Jean Pascal who has faced both Carl Froch and Sergey Kovalev said in this interview that Froch was by far the biggest puncher he faced. So I would base my opinion on that. Froch was a monster, in terms of power he probably hit harder than kovalev. But Kovalev by far a better technician
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z11ctd_r9Uw

Yeah well I'm not talking about that Darnell Boone, I've seen the fights, he's knocked down kovalev, adonis stevenson and ward. I'm talking about prime time knock downs. Kovalev was knocked down in a recent fight (hint: fight before Bhop)

Jesus christ. You obviously didn't watch that fight. Blake Caperello. he stepped on his foot while kovalev was backing up.

What did Jean Pascal say after the second fight lmao.
