In the above link if you add up the people who self identify as being of American, English, Scottish and North Irish descent, you will find more people of abritish origin than German. Also many people self identify as GermN because of one German relative. My wife always thought she was primarily German, but is mostly of WASP descent. This is a common misconception.

The advantage of a gun is that you can avoid having to physically touch your target. When you're assassinating someone, this is irrelevant, because you have the element of surprise on your side.

He was saying that she would have died anyway if there was a knife involved. So I'm saying he should put himself in that scenario then. If knives are just as deadly, you can protect yourself with one.

As a fellow Brit, I feel I should apologise for the OP's ignorance. He isn't aware that American shootings almost without exception occur in gun-free zones. It's the very act of disarming people that creates the possibility for mass shootings, as we commonly see shooters going out of their way to target specific gun free zones like schools, malls, army bases, cinemas.

Edit: this is also why an AR15 is a much better weapon for home defense than a pistol, but not a much better weapon for a mass shooting.

I'm not ignorant (probably a bit pompous) it's just something I can't get my head around. How did a developed country allow firearms to become so widely circulated, easily available and deeply embedded in culture that they will now never go away.

Sounds like you guys need to ban guns. They found hand guns and ak47's.

It's illegal to bring a firearm in a bar in the united states.
You guys should considering doing that too

While I do agree that some reform is necessary (there are absolutely laws that need revisiting and anyone sensible, left or right, can see that), the biggest problem I have with gun reform is this:

But the biggest problem is that no one in the U.S. can come to a healthy compromise.
On the left, you have people who want to take the guns out of law abiding citizens' hands, and on the right you have the NRA types who want every 6 year old to have the right to own an automatic assault rifle or a bazooka. Both sides need to get their heads out of their asses. (This really applies to just about any issue in our country, tbh)

A huge number of shootings take place in gun free zones all the time. How in the world could he have shot her if guns weren't permitted at the venue? It's almost as if he didn't give a fuk and smuggled the gun in anyways because he intended to murder somebody.
The federal government could completely BAN guns tomorrow, PERIOD, NO GUNS ANYWHERE, EVER. Guess what? Gun crimes will increase *******, cause criminals are now the only people with access to firearms.

If nothing else this thread had educated me as I'd actually never heard of 'gun-free zones'. But this is exactly the point. It's a cultural thing.

300+ millions firearms in America, millions of Americans carry daily, no incidence. A mental person does mental person things and the world wants to ban guns in America.

Gonna be ironic when the snackbar problem hits the point where you wish you had the means to defend yourself, but can't. You can't make an anti immigration ******** post without facing repercussion lmao. Stick to getting cucked and we'll stick to owning guns.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his gods?
