RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH before putting your money on anything that's posted on misc. If it's too good to be true, it is.

price was at 0.002, today it's at 0.03. How likely is it that it'll go higher after looking at the fact that most cryptocurrencies die out and barely reach $1 even after years of being in the market?

chances are slim to none and if you're buying this garbage at its peak, might as well throw your money in homeless shelter, that way you'll be getting blessing and someone won't have to sleep empty stomach.

As someone who is Hero member of bitcointalk forum, I can tell you most of the volume on bittrex (biggest exchange of eth at this moment) is FAKE, meaning someone is manipulating the market and buying/selling to himself.
True, but I don't think much people that used bitcoin back when they were 12 dollars a coin thought they would hit 450 dollars they are today. Bitcoins were pretty popular imo when they were at 12 dollars. Not saying you are wrong at all, I think it will most likely tank. but that is the definition of a high risk investment.

Inb4 exit scam

If you want to double/triple+ your money, why would you make a pie in the sky investment in an unregulated market with a long history of people getting ripped off when you could make a pie in the sky investment in the stock market? At least if you get lucky you can be sure the NASDAQ isn't going to shut down randomly and steal your funds.

Hi guys I had to login to further warn any miscers thinking of investing in eth.

I've been mining eth all this year 1200 (mh/s)and have stopped adding rigs as have other whales in this market. There will be a large sell off of eth to 0.01 - 0.015 levels after the bitcoin halving so if I was you do not invest in eth right now. It could go to 0.03 but that would be a heavy bull trap to eventually squeeze longs and make the dump harder.

If newbs are interested in eth please don't buy on margin. You will be liquidated. Only buy on spot/exchange. Do your own due diligence and not base your buys on others 'advice,' so feel free to question even this advice. Seen far to many people get their Angus rekt play newb 'stock broker.'

And please don't invest in any crypt coin with money you can't afford to lose and for the love of your money do not invest in 'alt' coins without good risk management.

This advise is cliche but it's just further warning to stay safe. I wish you all luck boyos.

You need a lot of it playing this game.

Off topic, but what have you been using to mine them? Professionally built machines, or standard desktop builds?

Mining is dependant on the coin and hence the algorithm associated with the coin.

Ethereum in particular is run on the Ethash algor which can be taken advantage of by graphics cards with 2.5+gb vram (you want more as the dagg size will eventually get bigger).

I build all my mining machines by hand and they do not resemble any consumer branded desktop in its specifications or even looks.

Eth Mining is not CPU nor ram intensive so you can get by with a dual core celeron and 2gb ram.
The gpu I run are the ati (not nvidia) 280x 290x but mostly 390x. I have over 50 gpu's set up in groups of 6 to a mobo that has 6 pci slots and order the mobos on a 10 metre long metal bracket with large fans for cooling. I often undervolt the cards to make them more efficient as it does not effect hash rate. The operation is very loud, requires a lot of maintenance and costs a lot of electricity. I would not recommend mining unless you have cheap electricity (<0.05cpkw).

In coins like bitcoin which run on the sha256 algo have specific fmini computers/miners with an ASIC chipset that are more more energy efficient, less loud and much easier to set up. But this is only for bitcoin and is not worth mining unless you have 1mil capital to compete with big miners in china.

I wouldn't recommend mining bruh unless you are willing to do lots of research and have good capital.

Lastly. Ethereum will be switching to its proof of stake framework within a year rendering mining redundant resulting in a large sell off of miners parts meaning you may find it hard to sell equipment. It's also worth noting that Vitalik the founder of eth, has stressed eth is not a currency but rather the 'fuel.' to establish decentralised applications. This statement furthers the volatility of eth.

I do not mean to be condescending in my response I am just trying to give everyone a solid warning before 'investing' money in crypts.

Good luck

BTC holders will jump to ETH because mining may become unprofitable due to the halved rewards. No miners = no transactions being processed, among other things.

Read up on "The DAO" also (it is basically a giant decentralized hedgefund, you send your ETH to it and you get tokens in return which you can invest in proposals):

May not be as big as it was before during that 1000%+ ROI, but just recently it shot up over 25%. Which is pretty damn good.

Daniel Masters, former oil trader at Shell and current co-founder of a multimillion bitcoin hedge fund Global Advisors, expects that bitcoin could overcome its historical all-time high of $1,100, or even peak at $4,400 by late 2017.
Masters reasons his predictions with increased acceptance of bitcoin payments by major corporate players and governments, further development of investment and interest in the underlying technology, the blockchain, and further growth of demand from China caused by its deceleration of economic growth and devaluation of Yuan.

Bitcoin is skyrocketing and taking the ETH price with it

ETH with its real price against BTC is staying relatively stable/slowly creeping upwards, it seems

Why are you posting this like it gives some sort of legitimacy to bitcoin as an investment? Do you think being an oil trader at Shell is an impressive background for a hedge fund manager? Do you think one no name hedge fund guy talking about why he is bullish on bitcoin should be influential?

During the last bitcoin bubble it was always worth the lols to stop by reddit threads and read all the comments from these clueless neckbeards turned financial analysts throwing around all the finance buzz words they learned yesterday to prove that bitcoin was going to the moon.

It's a completely unregulated and wildly speculative market. The most reputable and popular exchange shut down during the last bubble and lost $450 million in clients money. Just lol if you are touching this horse chit with any serious money.

Highly mixed opinion man depends on adoption. Some say it'll either die hard or blow up and be worth 10k-50-100-$1m per coin. idk
But then again there are some big fkin whales just sitting on btchttp://www.bitcoinrichlist.com/top100lot of those guys become billionaires if there is mass adoption.
I am on that bustbit website - can you give me the rundown on how this works? I am unfamiliar with most of the alt coins nowadays.

Ok so I was critical earlier in the thread, but because of it I got into cryptocurrencies, so genuine thanks for that OP, I've learned a lot since reading thing thread.

I bought into Eth and cashed out in the middle of the current rally. Feel like an idiot though cause I guess I should've stayed in, but I was expecting to buy back in due to volatility but. No such thing as bad profit I guess?

I reckon I'm going to get a few Bitcoins before the halvening, whenever the next dip is, and ultimately invest in Eth long term.
