I wasn't quite FA but as a younger teenager, 16 and 17 I had too much anxiety to build any type of relationship, that's what I meant. Changed at late 17. I've had multiple meaningful and serious/good relationships before I had career success, it didn't all begin at once. I'm very spiritual. Yes, 150-200k+ is an income that's needed in my part of the country to provide for a full family I plan to have as well as a few vacations here and there and a good car, all while saving so you have something to pass onto kids. I'm not on any high, I've had success way beyond my years for over 5 years now and I'm well used to it. The high wore off from it years ago. This thread's intention is to help others, which it's doing. The rest of your post is too childish to respond to.Yeah brah, because you need all of that to provide for your family. You say in your OP that you were "sad/miserable/FA" now, have money, GF, house, cars, ect. Sounds like you're experiencing a brief high because that void is temporarily being filled by whores and money. From your OP "Now 28 and have most everything I could ask for"; meanwhile you could have had what you truly wanted which was happiness, with no job if you embraced yourself instead of letting society push a mission for you to attain, aka money "success" (You attaining the mission just gives the pigs on top what they want; dependent sheeps following out their mission and giving more fuel to the soulless regime)
You seriously think that being an ex-FA and now with money your GF is going to be loyal to you? c'mon face
You're buying into capitalistic Zionist propaganda, if your happiness is dependent on assets you are a hollow person, void of any spiritual pursuits. And don't give me that family bullchit again either, it's a typical scapegoat for people who are following the material narrative but want to seem noble when in reality they're just void filling with pretty things to impress people they don't care about. Seems like you and a lot of the misc puts money, women, status, ect as criteria for "making it".
It's quite sad really how easily people fall into the traps society sets for them

Good luck buddy, happy to help you also if you want it. You may not need it, I don't want to assume anything. You can be as spiritual as you want, that's not something I'd be able to change in you, but a career and your work life is generally something you spend nearly half your life doing so it's important you're satisfied to live a happier, healthier life. That's what I'm aiming to help with.

I don't feel like people can just GROW out of anxiety, or a hard childhood.
Personally I didn't have a tough time growing up, my father was an entrepreneur that owned multiple businesses, so I was taught hard work and business smarts pretty early on.
HOWEVER, the whole motivation/drive to become successful, what exactly changed in you to be that driven?
What made you charismatic enough to start messaging randoms on LinkedIN, or reaching out to people in real life for advice/mentor-ship?
I feel that I am decently successful for my age, but I find myself turning down network opportunities, or really not trying as hard as I KNOW I could?
Did you start reading books about changing your life? Or start reading books about motivation to be successful?
People like you just have the MINDFRAME 24/7 to be successful and are always looking for new opportunities, new advice, etc.
How did you learn that?

So, to the first part, how did I overcome anxiety and/or hard times.
I would probably disagree, I think time heals eventually, but your life has to also change to allow time to heal. Having relationships with girls was really what mostly contributed to slowly losing that anxiety I has as a younger kid. I'd say that did 80% of it. Having a path in life I was confident about solved the other 20%.
Some things never left me, well haven't yet I should say I'm 27. Certain things still effect me, naturally I have some fears I otherwise wouldn't but it's all normalized a bit over the years. I remember when I was about 18 I went through a little period where I told myself I'd say "yes" to whatever friends invited me to, where otherwise I'd let my anxiety talk me out of it. That might have helped a bit. Ahhh, as I'm typing this I forgot but just remembered.. working at a restaurant brought me out of my shell big time. I was about 17/18 and started working at a restaurant and that forced me out of my shell, a ton. To younger guys here, try that out!
Growing up as poor as we did is what drove me to be successful so hard. I think poverty (real poverty) is like a monster. I ran harder from that monster than anyone around me because I knew just how bad and painful that monster actually is when it hits you. Most people don't really know. Not having money isn't quite the same as poverty and struggle. I knew what I was running from.. I still do, and nobody in my bloodline will experience it again.. at least until some spoiled sh!t kid spends it all haha.
About LinkedIn, you don't have to be charismatic to send a message. It's just typing. Here's a sample for anyone reading this.
"Hey ___,
This message is out of the blue, but I'm fairly new to LinkedIn and I'm looking to advance my career in your field. I was going over a few profiles randomly and saw yours, I saw your experience in _____ (so they know it's not spam, mention something specific) and I thought I'd try my luck in asking you for advice."
Then you can say maybe something like below or any combo of the following:
"Can you tell me what companies in this ___ industry are doing well?"
"Do you have any idea how I'd go about working for one of them?"
"Do you know any recruiters in this space?"
"Anybody you can refer me to?"
"Can you tell me how you became so successful that you were able to get in your role?"
End with
"Thank you for taking your time to read my completely random message, I'm ambitious, I want to get in but I'm just not quite sure where to start and I'm looking for some guidance, I don't have any today.
Thank you,
Your name here"
Regarding your last bit, that's wrong. Read the last few pages of my posts... you don't have to be in that mindset 24/7, not one bit. Nobody works as hard as they COULD. It's about small steps, and just being repetitive with the small steps. That's the ONLY DIFFERENCE between doing well and not doing well. It takes less than you think..
If you're on this forum and reading these posts... you're already ahead of the curve, just don't stop.
EDIT: regarding my advice above, it is always harder to help someone who's brand new so you may want to somehow make yourself sound like an expert who actually can get hired, or show off a bit of knowledge somehow. That way they know if they spend their personal time on you, you do actually have a shot of being hired. People don't like wasted effort so make sure your LinkedIn isn't completely blank or lame. Google can also help with LinkedIn tips.

what's it feel like knowing you make enough money to support 5 American families pretty comfortably, but instead, you have 25-50 people crafting the chit you sell in China for poverty wages, just so you and those above you can afford the lifestyle you have?
Let me guess, you think you are a martyr who "creates jobs?" phukking lol phuk this ghey earth.

As far as the China comment, my Cadillac was made in the US and the other car imported from Italy. I don't deny though that I'm sure I have many products built in China personally, I'm sure we all do. I hope that country gets their sh!t together and eventually puts an end to slave labor type jobs. We're still evolving as a world and there are still many bad governments around the world who don't have it figured out.
Edit: Last comment, I certainly couldn't support 5 families. After tax I take home maybe 150k, I'd say it takes a good 80k to support a family "comfortably" 60k could allow them to get by. I could support two families comfortably, as long as they are maybe 2 child families. Not 5.

This thread is amazing. I have seen this strategy like 5 times online. You move to another company who does tech sales or software sales. I know tons of people who continue to stay at their current job and don't do enough to make changes.

[QUOTE=Hadtodoit post_id=1446776593]I am, promise. I have probably 7 more PMs to go through and will in time, just been busy.
You realize there are 9 pages full of nearly everyone saying thanks, asking good questions with good responses, but you're about the only one acting like a basement dwelling teenager? No one should feel as though they should be "working" for some system for half of their life; their prime years. Another thing is that you posted this as a reply to that suicide thread when these types of pursuits and ambitions when taken to the extreme is exactly what causes young men to off themselves. This is the exact opposite thing a suicidal person should be reading and letting affect their judgement. Why let the cancer grow i.e the societal standards and expectations (Expectations that aren't based on any noble pursuits or humanitarian but rather just thrown your way to distract you and fuel the empire's reign), when you can say fuk it, and not let some capitalistic dictator determine what's important to you.

Piece of advice to anyone.... Get really good at your trade, and be known for it..
On the side I get paid about $150/HR to consult on projects.... Essentially I get paid to look at proposals for the consulting firms clients, and tell the consulting firm if I think their client is getting a good deal.
TLDR: I get paid for reading and giving my opinion.

You also skipped over the part where I talk about having a close family and a good relationship is probably the most challenging but most rewarding thing somebody can do.
Overall I'd say I think you're a bit sensitive to the topic and you have selective reading. I made my thoughts on material items pretty clear throughout the thread, I'm far from it although I do love cars and a big TV is cool.. but I'm not very materialistic naturally.
Regarding the piece you said about how this thread was a response to the suicide thread... I don't know. I've been through the rough times, one of my main points is how life can change and it's not as far of a reach as some people think. In other words, have hope, you CAN do it. I've answered probably 20+ PMs as a result of this thread as well helping some guys.
Let's face it, in this thread I'm trying to encourage and guide these guys through to a better career path, and whether you agree with it or not, we do live in a world where your work and strategy dictates how well you'll be able to provide for a family. It's a huge part of life, and people need guidance. It's as simple as that.

Now.. hopefully I can reach a bunch of you guys with a thread and give you what I didn't have, at least one solid direction to go. It's not at all, in any way the only direction to go. It might not even be the very best direction, but it's a good one.
edit: I forgot to check this tonight so will handle this tomorrow or soon (replying to the last few and deleting)

Have you ever been IQ tested? This thread reminds me of another thread a manager at a wall street firm made a few years ago. You could tell from his depth in his responses and how he structured his arguments that he was very intelligent. A little like you, also almost all successful people I have talked to appear to have very high emotional intelligence.
If your advice wasn't so good, I'd be skeptical to take it because I'd assume you are simply just successful because of your emotional and 'rational' intelligence. Good thread brah.
Just out of interest, what sort of grades did you get in highschool and what did you do in years 19-24 that developed you into being a good potential salesperson? Or were you chit when you started?

Regarding HS, I actually dropped out of high school. I actually don't usually say that IRL because while it's impressive to go from a dropout/GED person to where I am now, it still sounds uneducated and uneducated is never good. Life was hard back then, I think I've come to the conclusion that hard things in my life at home as a kid brought me anxiety, and eventually my anxiety got so bad around 16/17/18 I couldn't go and broke down. It was rough. I also never had a strong parent that forced me to go. Grades were mediocre, I never really tried in school. I can't remember why...
About my advice, thanks for pointing that out. I'd have a sh!tty thread if it was simply suggesting people be smarter, being smart isn't a choice, just like being short or tall. I'm sure if we all picked our DNA we'd all be more intelligent. My advice is advice that 90% of you should be able to follow, and again I have more faith in the average poster here than the general population just because of the fact we're all online on a forum in the first place. That actually says something. The less intelligent you are, the less likely you are to be a part of an online forum, simple as that. There are always exceptions. Intelligence will be needed but I always feel like a big chunk of intelligence is confidence, if that makes sense. It's being grounded, and thinking "Ok, I can learn this" and learning/making small efforts to achieve something. Networking and pursuing a career path through the methods mentioned in earlier threads can be done by most all of the brahs here.

I took the test years ago and was INTJ. I think naturally as you age through your 20s you'll become a bit more comfortable with yourslef, therefore a bit more extroverted... so I'd say I'm a bit more of an extrovert than I was when I took the test.. however the I definitely still applies (the I being for introverted). In a crowd, I like talking and being extroverted but it takes a lot of energy and if I do it for too long I run out of energy. Sometimes I'll have business trips where it's nearly 2-3 days of non stop talking and being on stage if that makes sense (not an actual stage but in a suit, talking to colleagues) and if I don't rest at least a little bit I swear I'll even get sick. Lol. Well... it's gotten easier in the last year or two but yeah..
cliffs: INTJ, maybe slowly moving to ENTJ.

I make like $2-3k/month" and my mind was blown, I couldn't imagine that much cash at that age. I said I'm not sure if I can do it.. but I'd try. The fast, good money was mind blowing to me so I worked my ass off. I worked as much as my mind would let me (because it's mental not physical) and learned how to be a salesperson for quick sales. That's bottom of the food chain now and an entirely different world from what I do now. I wish what I do now wasn't even technically called sale, it shouldn't be. Anyway back then, I learned to mimic their behavior. If a guy was skeptical about a phone, I'd be like him.... skeptical too, but explained some things that earned his trust. Me being similar to him naturally made him trust me more. If a girl came in excited to get something I'd mimic the feelings she had a bit and it made her work well with me. Most importantly, I just tried a bit harder than the guy next to me.By the way, I'm really interested in what you did from years 19-23 that made you a successful salesperson when you started your sales job at 24? What qualities did you have innately and what qualities did you have that you developed throughout life is what I mean.
Ever heard the saying "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun the guy next to me"? That's key.. you don't have to be the best, you just have to beat the guy standing next to you, then you can put that on your resume. "top ___ for my region" or whatever.. it looks good, helps you land your next role. Again.. I talk about this pages back in more depth but don't focus too much on being the best at one job forever, be the best at it and look to the next position.. the next ladder that raises your own personal level until you're satisfied.
Anyway.. I almost don't want to answer that question about early sales because that's so very different from what I do now, and small sales are not what I suggest. When people hear sales they think that sort of stuff.. not at all what I do now. It may be a good starting point though.. it's fun, you can learn, become social, etc. Everyone has to start somewhere and that's a snapshot of my life back then.

No one should feel as though they should be "working" for some system for half of their life; their prime years. It's so stupid I honestly can't fathom how someone with a sane brain is doing it and so many people are
Another thing is that you posted this as a reply to that suicide thread when these types of pursuits and ambitions when taken to the extreme is exactly what causes young men to off themselves.

Also don't agree with you with the suicidal people and having goals.... i actually think the worst thing about suicidal people is the fact that they like you mentioned want all these things to change but don't want to work for that change. Maybe they hate their job, they hate the fact they dont have girls, they hate their financial situation and instead of getting off their ass and doing something about it they sit around and mope about how life is hard and not fair to them.

Damn, talk about coincidences and luck. I've been on this site for about 8 years, lurking even before I had an account. Once I started college, I still misc'd it every now and then but haven't in over a year. The one time I decided to log back in to lurk a bit before bed for ****s n' giggles, I stumble on to this thread the night it's about to be deleted. Bend me over, slap my ass and call me Sally if that isn't some **** hahaha.
I've spent the past hour or so reading and re-reading some of your posts, thanks for the incredibly insightful advice you've shared on here. I see completely eye to eye with it.
To give you the sparknotes version about myself, I had a very similar upbringing in a poor environment. However, both my parents, though flawed as most of us are, were incredibly supportive. Because of this and their sacrifices to emigrate to the states, I stuck through education and just recently graduated from a top university. Like you, I was a straight up FA anxiety ridden dude throughout most of highschool, and even though I had my inner group of friends, never wanted to be "noticed". I finally decided that this was a chitty way to live and decided to be the "yes man", saying yes to anything and everything and tackling the anxiety head on. Realizing college was a way to start over again, I spent my time searching forums and studying anything I could to become a better social individual. I knew I was a witty, empathetic guy who people enjoyed being around; I just didn't know how to express this side to people I wasn't comfortable with. College hit, I joined a fraternity my freshman fall quarter, and then it all went from there. I eventually became social chair for my chapter, something I never could have envisioned years prior. Getting girls got me over the social phobia and made me realize my self-worth; working on my personal identity and attributes cemented it.
Sorry that this sparknotes turned into a Wikipedia article but I just wanted you to get a background into the type of person I am today. Now that I'm graduated with a degree I don't plan on pursuing further (psychology), I find myself 21 years old and about to turn 22 next month. Money has never been the focus for me, but with my major, I knew I had to look into an alternate career path. Thinking introspectively, I realized that establishing common ground and forming interpersonal relationships with those around you is the most important skill I gained from college (and the past 21 years in general). Everything positive that I experienced revolved heavily around networking and being a likable individual. Thus, I took a friend's advice and began looking into several sales positions.
A few days after my birthday next month, I begin a job in the tech industry. I still don't know personally if I believe in signs or things being placed purposely in front of you (AKA luck I suppose lmao) but if you have the time, please check your PM as I'd love to ask you a few questions and gain some insight about certain aspects of my career path moving forward.
You're the man, man. Thanks for your advice and I'm sure those seeking to better themselves will benefit greatly from them. Cheers!
PS: probably the strongest 1rd post of 2016 hahaha
