Other than Robinson being flat out better (except in defense) and more accomplished, he would also have a noticeable size advantage. This isn't Pacquiao we're talking about, who basically began his career at horse jockey weight.

The real problem with the general public's perception of Mayweather is that they can only see in terms of black and white. Either he's a boring coward who always running (people who don't know chit about boxing) or think he's the greatest of all time (casual fans).
It's beyond question question that he's one of the truly great pound for pound boxers of all time. Frankly, he's probably the most special fighter that I have followed in my lifetime. He's certainly more accomplished and consistent than the likes of Roy Jones Jr., another all time great who was who brought up a lot of black and white opinions. But is he the greatest? No. As accomplished as he is, he's not the most accomplished in boxing history. As talented and skilled as he is, he's not the best there either. That said, I do think he's arguably the greatest defensive boxer of all time. A few, such as Pernell Whitaker, might have been better on pure defense, but unlike Whitaker, Mayweather actually has a decent offense when he lets loose.
Anyways, I've always been a fan of his. Not a good guy by any means, but watching him in the ring was like looking at a piece of art. Superb technique. Agreed his style was entertaining for true boxing fans. Have more respect for a fighter that can retire on top while taking no damage than a guy that's been in so many wars that he can't talk properly when they're older.

That said, Floyd was a defensive master. However, I don't find him that impressive over all. Mainly he was a classless **** talker with great footwork, a quick mind, decent chin and inconsistent power. The guy worked hard as hell though and was able to outsmart everyone he fought, no doubt. When viewed through the lens of boxings history I feel he in no way deserves the moniker "all time best". His record is not nearly in the same league as Marcianos, who fought wars in the ring. Not to mention guys like Robinson, Chavez, Hagler, Pep, Leonard, Duran, who completely outshine him as true warrior spirit types. Mayweathers greatest assets would not have helped him against most of those men.

SRL fought Hacker, Hearts,Duran, didn't duck any one.

And I agree that Duran would beat Mayweather at lightweight, though it'd be very competitive fight. I also don't see any way Mayweather could beat Hearns at welter, although to be fair, welter isn't Mayweather's best weight.

what many dont know about floyd is that aside from televised fights he was a USA olympic fighter, his last fight as an olympic fighter was lost an he was awarded a bronze some speculate he didnt get gold due to him being black.

Floyd is a great technical fighter. His ring IQ is second to none. He always adjusted to his opponents every time he faced difficulty early in his fights. That is what makes him the greatest IMO. Every other great fighter has had blunders in their careers. Being 49-0 with the level of oppositon he has faced in his career is amazing. The fact that he fought on WORLD CLASS level from his early 20s until his late 30s and not losing once is remarkable. Him not knocking people out after he wentup to 147 means nothing. a W is a W whether its from a decision or a KO...
If you think he is boring thats fine but that doesnt make him any less great. If you want to see KOs i suggest you check out Golovkin fights. Guy is a beast. 24 KOs in a row i believe.
