From an alligator perspective, this is like alien abduction. All the surviving alligators will think the alligators who try talk about it are crazy conspiracy theorists.

Wow really letting your child play in a natural body of water in Florida? What a bunch of idiots at least the father went in after him I would have dragged that ****er out of the water and ripped its eyes out or it would have pulled me in with it.

if u tried to wrestle it, it would have probably just done that "death roll" thing that they do and killed ur kid

What the fuk good are swimming lessons going to do for a 2 year old being dragged off by a gator? You dumb as chit. That's like saying that someone could have prevented being killed by a car crusher if only they had worked their chest more.

The huge strength difference between a gator and a two year old isn't going to be overcome by swimming lessons.

Whenever I need parenting advice I'll just ask the childless 22 year olds on the misc. They obviously would make great parents.

The latest update, according to TMZ:

"10:30 PM PST -- Cops say the 2-year-old was with his parents and siblings wading in about a foot of water when the attack happened. A rep for the Orange County Sheriff Department says the boy's father tried rescuing the child from the gator but was unsuccessful and suffered minor injuries.Cops say there are "no swimming" signs posted around the lagoon. It's estimated the gator was between 4-7ft long.
A rep for Disney added, "Everyone here at Walt Disney Resort is devastated by this tragic accident. Our priority is the family and we are doing everything we can to help law enforcement." The family was staying at the resort on vacation from Nebraska.
Florida Fish & Wildlife is currently trying to locate and trap the gator. Cops say they will not stop their search until they locate the child. update_grey_gray_barA 2-year-old child was snatched by an alligator and dragged into a lagoon at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando, officials say ... and now cops are desperately searching the water.
Officials say the attack occurred around 9:30 PM ... when the gator pulled the child into the Seven Seas Lagoon -- a man-made lake located between the resort and Walt Disney World."

"No Swimming" signs posted and yet the parents ignored it - all of this could've been prevented.
This, 100% parents fault, BRB wading in gator infested water 1:15mins after sunset are you ****ing kidding me.

100% chance your child dies vs small chance you hit a sensory spot on the gator (eyes) and it releases. I'll take the chance.

Also everyone crucifying the parents because there were signs, let's think about it a minute

Did the signs say no swimming with some indication alligators may be in there

Or did the sign just say no swimming?

Remember this is a pretty nice resort in a lake with fountains. It's reasonable to think the no swimming sign can be interpreted as we don't want a bunch of people in our nice lake rather than no swimming for your own safety.

Granted even with that perspective they were technically breaking the rules, as the kid had his feet in the water, but you can see how something like this can be misinterpreted, especially from someone from Nebraska.

Also lol at anyone who thinks the two year old won't be up and out during vacation at 9:30 on movie night. I know most of you don't leave your parents homes, let alone go on vacations, but that's not even sort of a big deal or bad parenting
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Yes a 2 year old actually.

So tell me all knowing Frank Drebin what should you do when a predator grabs your child and begins to flee with it?

Do nothing or attack the animal?

1. My child would never be walking around in gator infested water
2. If somehow I had a major lack of judgement and allowed that situation to happen I would engage that gator instead of standing there watching as it carried my child under water.

I would have used my highly trained 550lbs deadlift to haul that gator up on the beach and went to town on it with some ground and pound action til it released my mini me. Dad must have been a non-lifting *******.

You don't if you're an idiot. There were NO SWIMMING signs posted EVERYWHERE and anyone that isn't a complete idiot (these parents) knows there are gators in nearly every body of water in that state and even end up in peoples swimming pools. So they just decided to take a stroll in water AFTER DARK in a body of water they had no excuse of not knowing had gators in it... strong decision making.

I also don't assume my child is going to be abducted while were shopping at the grocery store but he never leaves my sight because I know it's a possibility.

Calling me "All knowing" after your comments in this thread. thats rich bro. You've been talking out your ass. How were the parents supposed to know the water was gator infested? Were there signs? Are they not to assume that a pond at a resort with no fences is safe?

Yes, and there were signs, and gators in water in Florida is common knowledge. Do they think they sweep the lake with gator nets every day and relocate them all?

I just checked the map the lagoon is MASSIVE you would have to be a complete idiot to think there weren't gators in the water.

Feel bad for the parents. Obviously they were unaware of the dangers. Is it possible that they could have checked in late and didn't really notice the signs because it was dark?

Lived in FL my whole life and seen many gators. For the most part they will not bother you. But there are some rules to follow. The big one being that you don't hang out in waterways in the evening time.

I can imagine for someone out of state who's never seen a gator in the wild, not knowing how common they are around here. Therefore letting your little one wonder onto the shoreline while you are close by doesn't seem like a bad idea. Unfortunately this family has learned the hard way.

I would add too that it being Disney and all, tourists just assume that everything is 'safe'. Surely Disney wouldn't put a beachfront on a waterway with chairs if it weren't safe, right?

Its not common knowledge. I went there this Feb and I learned about the gators while I was there, not before.

Like I said you stupid mother ****er

Many of these places want to keep people from swimming in their nice display lakes and it has nothing to do with gators

I dont know the specifics of the signs but if all it said was no swimming that's a pretty piss poor sign plain and simple
