The Mirror reports “Brit family ‘chased by alligator” at Disney resort weeks before toddler attack. The Davies, who are from Liverpool, tell the paper they were at the Polynesian Village Resort along the shores of the same lake and awaiting the Magic Kingdom’s nightly fireworks display when an alligator “lurched” out of the lagoon.
“Disney does everything by the book and they have an amazing system,” Wiley said. “They have routinely taken out alligators in the lakes and the property at large. I haven’t heard of any taken out recently.”
Specific notice of a man-hunting problem alligator and they didn't take action to remove it.

what if you cant find it to remove? I think parents are held at fault. you cant control the animal life. this could of been another gator. parents didnt exercise caution and ignored signs.

They're running an alligator management program, were notified of a problem alligator that attacked a family, and didn't remove any alligators: they not only did not remove the problem alligator, they apparently removed 0 alligators.

They'll have a harder time making an argument that they aren't responsible for the alligators if they've voluntarily taken responsibility for removing alligators. They also can't claim it was unforeseeable, since they were given prior notice of an actual alligator attack.

They even closed down the beaches today out of an "abundance of caution". That's practically a confession that they failed to exercise the same caution when someone was attacked a few weeks ago. It's one thing to run a beach where beach-goers assume a risk of encountering an alligator, it's another thing to run a beach where there is a hungry alligator with a known predilection for the flesh of human children and the resort didn't say anything or do anything about it.

got a two year old.daughter and this story hit.me right in the feels.

Poor little sod. ****ing hate stories like this but at the end of the day alligators just doing there thing. If they are a danger to humans dont allow humans to be put in this situation

There's a real possibility that it was the same alligator - presumably desensitized to humans - in both incidents. This being the case, it may come out that there were other incidents, as well.

Either way, it was a known issue that was not handled using the mechanisms put into place to prevent precisely this issue. Foreseeable and ample opportunity to prevent it.
