I don't own any guns, I'm not a progressive liberal, but why do people need assault weapons? I'm honestly curious. what does someone need an m16 for over a shotgun or high powered rifle?

When you put a ban on something, all you do is increase the price for it on the black market.

why don't we allow rocket launchers, tanks, and grenades etc? Because those things are completely unnecessary and so are guns that fire hundreds of rounds at lighting speed

My AR15 regularly tries to escape and go on a shooting spree. I have to give it a stern warning once a week.

to add on that...isn't m16 classified as a high powered rifle? along with ak 47, etc etc.

I don't understand why they don't just ban drugs so we would no longer have a drug problem.

And you are complete moron if you think making drugs legal is the right thing to do just because there is a black market.

However studies have shown legalizing drugs has a better effect on society than banning them.

The "war on drugs" has been such a success, do you really think the "war on guns" is going to be any different? We can't even stop a bunch of Mexicans from crossing our border, do you really think we are going to stop guns? We don't even know where said Mexicans are, what makes you think anyone will find 400,000,000 guns?

Five years later, the number of deaths from street drug overdoses dropped from around 400 to 290 annually, and the number of new HIV cases caused by using dirty needles to inject heroin, ******* and other illegal substances plummeted from nearly 1,400 in 2000 to about 400 in 2006, according to a report released recently by the Cato Institute, a Washington, D.C, libertarian think tank.

what if a group of mentally fked up dudes go on a rampage through some small town with several firearms? aint no one pistol gonna stop them. but if the cops can't help, and there's no other options, one rifle spraying rounds just might save the rest of the city.
Non-issue for me though, as in CA everything is semi-auto and 10rd mag limit

You'd think people would want handguns banned since they're easier to hide, conceal, and carry. But hey, that doesn't fit the libtarded narrative.

According to the World Bank, at least three-fourths of expenditures on drugs in the US goes toward apprehending and punishing dealers and users; treatment expenditures account for, at most, a mere one-sixth of the total. That’s in spite of evidence that treatment programs are more effective and economical than interdiction.

I would also say that getting drunk is a lot more universal than the need for guns. Pretty much every society gets drunk. Only a few lug around guns.
I am fine banning high magazine weapons (say 10 shots. Feel free to quibble about the exact number). You don't need them for hunting or self protection. You will still be able to murder your family, commit suicide, or have your kid accidentally shoot themselves (something like 2/3s of gun deaths fall into one of those categories) just fine. It might lower the death toll from these mass shootings a bit though.
And of course anyone who thinks manhood is defined by material goods of any sort has a vastly different defintion than I do. Of course I did wear a salmon shirt once. So what do I know
