I can do absolutely nothing but wash my face with cold water and moisturize, and my skin still has the undertone, especially when I get hot. Using more chemical products usually makes things worse.
Tried taking Beta Carotene to get more of an orangeish undertone, but didn't really help even after several months.
Other than that, skin is smooth and acne-free.

What's your opinion on the caveman skin routine, or should I say lack of routine? (regimen) That's basically the only thing I haven't tried besides accutane, and I'm not able to get that until someone gives me a fair exchange from paypal to bitcoin.
One of the last things I tried was apple cider vinegar used with clay mask instead of water, but that thing broke me out more which I know is expected but I could not keep it on as it caused me a lot of itch.

To me, the issue begins on the inside and by the time it is expressed as a blemish or whatever on your face you're just doing damage control with topical treatments and you'll always be one step behind.
There is no question that the most effective treatment for cystic acne is accutane (potentially horrible side effects are irrelevant for this argument), and it's a pill. Not one product touches your face and you're cured of acne. Think about that.

Whats your current skin care routine?
My routine is mostly prevention haha, also its a hobby tbh.
For ingrown hairs, regular chemical exfoliation is key to clear the pores and keep them small. AHA & BHA

Avoid sun damage, smoking, stay hydrated, eat a healthy diet. Use Retin-A if you wish. And if you really want prevention start getting botox injections for dynamic wrinkles (when you smile, etc.) but that is still ridiculous.

From like a little one to both cheeks covered. And it was supposed to make it better.
I don't know, I know it isn't a huge deal but I rather not have them. And I'm not really into waiting months to get another appointment with the derm to ask, and then get billed a ton.

You move up peels in order. use mandelic then glycolic then fade peel.
Never get into random peels. They can cause chemical burns. Prep your skin and slowly use them.
Forgot about peels for now and just use BHA and AHA.

Here's the routine I go with:
Morning
Cleanser (in shower)
Toner (immediately after toweling off)
Vitamin C serum (like 1 min after toner, since toner dries super fast)
Exfoliation - BHA (about 4 min after Vit C serum)
Moisturizer (about 10 min after BHA solution)
Sunscreen (right before I go out the door)
Evening
Cleanser
Toner
Retinol serum
Exfoliation AHA
Moisturizer
Once per week (or two weeks)
Aztec Clay mixed with ACV
(followed by physical scrub like St. Ives or something to get all the clay off)
And then moisturizing immediately afterwards
Few things to keep in mind:
- This talk of BHA/AHA exfolients - these are chemical exfolients, not physical ones like a St Ives micro-bead scrub. Huuuuuuge difference. (and necessitates sunscreen)
- 99% of Vitamin C serums on the market are a scam. Same with retinols & hyaluronic acids. Look at the Amazon product descriptions/reviews/ingredients. Pure nonsense. You have to go with a big, well known company (like paula's choice)
- If you're prone to breakouts, get a sunscreen who's only active ingredients are zinc oxides and titanium oxides (physical sunscreens). All of that other stuff is chemical sunscreen, which actually screws around with your hormones at the skin level, leading to breakouts

So basic routine is mix the BHA/AHA for chemical exfoliation, then apply that moisturizer, daily, and beyond that chemical peels monthly? Seems simple enough.
Recommendations for basic sunscreen and cleanser though? And if I purchased all these products right now and used them at your recommended frequency, how long would they last me about?
Also you mentioned BB cream, I've seen a few threads about it over the years. It's a tinted moisturizer that makes your skin tone look more even right? Is it worth picking up, how does it feel on the skin, and do I have to physically go into the store and find the right color or can I purchase from the safety of my computer?
Gj on quality thread OP.

In my opinion you are using way too many products. What works for me is just a good face wash and moisturizer. But if it works for you, keep it up. Good skin is an undervalued asset

I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I'm currently on accutane 60mg for another month.
Started from 20mg in Jan, then 30mg, then 40mg, now 60mg. Acne has cured so much better, and confidence has gone up the roof! Used to have a face bumpy like roads from vietnam. What's left is the pigmentations.
Anyway, currently just using Loreal Men Hydra energetic cleanser and moisturiser.
Also Loreal BB Men for that BB cream goodness.
