Far too excessive. What caused you to have such bad skin insecurities?

What non-Accutane method would you recommend to eliminate cystic acne?
That skin care regimen will help with white heads and pustules, but I've noticed the more protein I eat, the more I get a cyst or two ugh.

aware of Paula Choice's BHA, been using that chit for several years, it's the good chit
all you need is
-Paula's BHA
-Retinol/Retin A
-Vitamin C Serum
-Moisturizer containing Hyaluronic Acid.....beats Jack Black although that's good too, but Hyaluronic Acid > Jack Black, as far as moistruizing your skin and antiaging goes
-Sunscreen
those are the necessities and what you need to look 60 when you're 80
beats all the $200-$500 overpriced skincare regimens everyone else is spending on
Of course, everything listed is just the exterior.
Don't forget to eat clean, do cardio, and get plenty of sleep.
Do all of the above and you will be on top of your skincare game, both inside and out.
Here's the routine I go with:
Morning
Cleanser (in shower)
Toner (immediately after toweling off)
Vitamin C serum (like 1 min after toner, since toner dries super fast)
Exfoliation - BHA (about 4 min after Vit C serum)
Moisturizer (about 10 min after BHA solution)
Sunscreen (right before I go out the door)
Evening
Cleanser
Toner
Retinol serum
Exfoliation AHA
Moisturizer
Once per week (or two weeks)
Aztec Clay mixed with ACV
(followed by physical scrub like St. Ives or something to get all the clay off)
And then moisturizing immediately afterwards
Few things to keep in mind:
- This talk of BHA/AHA exfolients - these are chemical exfolients, not physical ones like a St Ives micro-bead scrub. Huuuuuuge difference. (and necessitates sunscreen)
- 99% of Vitamin C serums on the market are a scam. Same with retinols & hyaluronic acids. Look at the Amazon product descriptions/reviews/ingredients. Pure nonsense. You have to go with a big, well known company (like paula's choice)
- If you're prone to breakouts, get a sunscreen who's only active ingredients are zinc oxides and titanium oxides (physical sunscreens). All of that other stuff is chemical sunscreen, which actually screws around with your hormones at the skin level, leading to breakouts
You seem knowledgeable and good routine brah. But I'd just add that you can layer the bha and aha together to save time unless they are very different ph. I know PC keeps their products on the same PH levels.
Also add peels like mandelic acid peel and derma rolling for extra aesthetics.
So basic routine is mix the BHA/AHA for chemical exfoliation, then apply that moisturizer, daily, and beyond that chemical peels monthly? Seems simple enough.
Recommendations for basic sunscreen and cleanser though? And if I purchased all these products right now and used them at your recommended frequency, how long would they last me about?
Also you mentioned BB cream, I've seen a few threads about it over the years. It's a tinted moisturizer that makes your skin tone look more even right? Is it worth picking up, how does it feel on the skin, and do I have to physically go into the store and find the right color or can I purchase from the safety of my computer?
Gj on quality thread OP.
Yeap. thats all there is to it brah. I would say they would last you about 5 months assuming you use them in the way I wrote in the op.
BB cream I use rarely, only when I feel like it. Its just a going out thing and to look more aesthetic to girls. Celebs wear it.
I buy my bb cream online, just look up the color chart. i recommend missha bb cream
In my opinion you are using way too many products. What works for me is just a good face wash and moisturizer. But if it works for you, keep it up. Good skin is an undervalued asset
Its actually not that much products srs. I barely spend more than 4 mins of my time a day for all this. And its all added in with research behind it. Nothing I use is not showing results for me.
Ive started using vitamin c serum along with 2x week aztec clay. Also getting retin a cream which Ill be using 3x a week.
Along with sweating every day and using sea salt water on my face, drinking a lot of water, i have no idea what all that other stuff is for. Pls aware
Just a basic aesthetics routine brah. Chemical exfoliation is great for tone, acne, sebacous filaments etc. I also dermaroll for collagen synthesis
Thanks brah. What is bb cream you mentioned in your other post? I looked it up on Sephora and it looks like it's girl stuff?
missha bb cream, its not girl stuff. It has tinted moisturizer, sunscreen in one and it helps aesthetics every once in a while
Lol @ this thread and half of the posters in it. Why the hate brah, just helping brahs out.
I'm currently on accutane 60mg for another month.
Started from 20mg in Jan, then 30mg, then 40mg, now 60mg. Acne has cured so much better, and confidence has gone up the roof! Used to have a face bumpy like roads from vietnam. What's left is the pigmentations.
Anyway, currently just using Loreal Men Hydra energetic cleanser and moisturiser.
Also Loreal BB Men for that BB cream goodness.
Yeah brah, I'd recommend waiting 3 months after you're done with accutane and then using my routine to get rid of all the PIH and PIE

Honestly think your complexion is largely genetics and there's not much you can do about skin tone issues like these, especially with topical products. The billion dollar skin care industry won't allow you to believe that though. Look at the product spread on OP, that is man that is drinking the kool aid.
Also believe fighting skin issues from the inside (diet and supplementing, drinking a ton of water etc.) is just as effective if not more effective than rubbing hundreds of dollars of chemicals into your skin on a regular basis.
To me, the issue begins on the inside and by the time it is expressed as a blemish or whatever on your face you're just doing damage control with topical treatments and you'll always be one step behind.
There is no question that the most effective treatment for cystic acne is accutane (potentially horrible side effects are irrelevant for this argument), and it's a pill. Not one product touches your face and you're cured of acne. Think about that.

Guys are lucky. We don't have to use special cleansers and bull**** to wipeoff makeup, and other crap.
All of this crap you put on your face isn't really worth it in the long run, some of it can ruin your skin. For instance, retin-a is great and all, but a lot of people can't handle it, and if they use it too much will just thin our their skin in the long run.
If anything, just do what I said above.
Also, look into 'red light therapy'. Some gyms have them. NASA proved that it increases skin healing. It promotes collagen growth, heals, and is anti-inflamatory. A lot of people say its nonsense, but ive noticed it really does help calm your skin and even it out. If you have acne, id consider getting a red light, and doing it daily.

op do you use that same routine at night time too?
why dont you use retin a?
why vitamin c only once a month?
i heard derma rollers can make small holes in your skin so i've been hesitant to use them. is there a specific roller or stamp that you recommend?

Could you explain to me what's happening here, op? Everytime i take a shower or wash my face with cold water, a few minutes later after it dries out, my skin starts to flake. I feel like it's a build up of dead skin. Moistoruzer gets rid of it but I don't like putting it on too much cuz i fear it'll clog my pores and give me acne. Other than that my skin is pretty clear.

What does BHA and AHA do compared to retin-a. Retin - a leads to peeling and flaking of skin too, is it the same action?
Also, what are some reliable brands for vit-c serum? Heard there are lots of fakes on the market.

You're just doing damage control with topical treatments and forking over tonnes of cash to these skin care companies in the process. They've got you sucked in brah.
If good skin was a product of how well you treat and maintain your skin on the surface (ie: the paint job on your car) how do you explain someone with basically perfect skin all their life that never uses any of these products? It clearly all comes from within your body. The blemishes on your skin are an expression of an imbalance somewhere inside your body. Obviously we don't understand what exactly leads to perfect skin or how to perfectly treat different issues but just using simple logic its obvious that putting chit on your face is not the solution.
I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that its much easier to drop a $100 on some creams and put them on every night than it is to fix your diet and maintain it long term. The rest is very effective marketing.

if its just cold water, and you are still really really dry. you can pul some aquafor to trap the water moisture. also, coconut oil is great. wait 10min after your shower, right when its starting to feel dry. put a pee size in your hand, get it a little wet with water. and slather a light film across your face. you don't want to put a moisturizer on right after a shower. your pores are still open and you are just filling it with a cream. wait till they close. 10min. then put it on. won't break out that way. also, everyone has different skin types. just gotta test.

To all you brahs. Follow this diet and supplements below for a few months. Your skin should improve. Once again, a lot of it is genetics, but decreasing inflamtion will reduce redness, acne, dry skin, etc. for most people.
http://coolinginflammation.blogspot....tory-diet.html
Also, look into LLLT. Low level light therapy. Red light therapy. To add, ive heard good things about supplementing zinc and MSM, Glutamine, fish oil, vitamin C, vitamin d to decrease inflamation and evening out skintone. A lot of skin issues and even depression stem from a lack of vitamin D. get some blood tests.
Raw Honey is something that I think a lot of you guys with dry skin and acne prone skin should try out. Put it on your face, leave it on for an hour to all night. Wash that **** off, and youll see your skin tone improve, and your skin will be smooth as hell.
dat feeling when you should have been a dermatologist.

The damage control comment is referring to treating the problem after the damage has been done. Whatever is going on inside of your body that is causing the issues with your skin is being ignored while the damage is being treated with topical products.
If you had the "best skin ever" as a 21 year old male you wouldn't be using make up (cc cream).
And if you think 7 pictures of one marginally healthy premade dinner and 9 pictures of another is proof of a perfect diet then I'm not even going to go there man. Not to mention I was talking about a diet specifically optimized for your skin....
You've exposed yourself as a full on potato here OP.
