A Sydney "slut shamer" who made obscene comments about a young woman's Tinder profile has pleaded guilty to misusing a carriage service in what may prove a landmark case in Australia.

Zane Alchin, 25, labelled Olivia Melville, also 25, a "f---ing basic slut", among other things, after one of his friends screenshotted Ms Melville's Tinder profile and posted it to ********.

Ms Melville described herself as "the type of girl that will suck you dry and then eat some lunch with you" on the popular dating service, but the seemingly tongue-in-cheek reference was apparently lost on Chris Hall.

Hall, a 31-year-old bartender, posted the screenshot to his ******** page with the caption "stay classy ladies. Im surprised shed still be hungry for lunch", precipitating a wave of vile abuse including comments like "I'd rape you if you were better looking".

Alchin then posted the image to his own ******** page.

Unexpectedly entering a guilty plea in Newtown court this morning,Alchin may face up to three years in prisonfor using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

to be the devils advocate, no where is there an indicator of her sleeping with multiple men or even performing the act she says about herself with multiple partners to constitute her as a slut, which is what she was labelled publicly and why that miscers is getting into a lot of chit. besides the 3yr term is only a max possible sentencing which he'll never serve nor spend a day in prison, as in australia if you do slander someone online puclicly it first handled by police and if the person doesn't stop then further action is taken. I have no idea how this has ended up a court case and made to be public news. Media obviously is on a dry spell it seems
