He was looking for a reason to search your vehicle and he was going to try to figure out how to do it any way possible. Sometimes police get it in their head that you're "suspicious" and they don't want to give up.
You did a lot of the right things, until you gave him the go-ahead to search your vehicle. "but, but, if you're innocent, you shouldn't worry about anything and just allow it". Bullchit. It's your right to privacy and your right to not be harassed.

This is literally the life of a minority.
I went to go running on some bike trails near me and was stretching next to my car, cop rolls up and says "there have been break ins in the area and I need to run your information"
Not even in my car and he asks for my car insurance, just lmfao.
He sat in his car running my chit thru the system for like 10 minutes.
He didn't stop anyone else who was there to question them, only me.
I've gotten pulled over before for clearly dodging potholes/sewer covers, and i've gotten pulled over simply for driving late at night.
They ask me to incriminate myself "Have you been drinking? Are there drugs in the car?"
It's phukking bs.
Fact is,they know minorities are more likely to be poor and can't afford to defend their rights.
At the same time, they know people in poverty are more likely to be criminals, so they just triple their efforts on minorities.

Would you rather they reduced efforts against minorities and let more crimes slip through or would you rather they rustle a couple of you over sensitive beta *******s who haven't done anything wrong by wasting a little more of your time than should be.

That's a not only a violation of my rights, but of my privacy.
Not to mention, they could probably tear apart your car and leave you to pay for it.
I haven't had one ask me yet, but I'd tell them no, that would be a waste of both of our time, if you have a ticket to write me, go ahead.
If not, I am already late for a family gathering/work/class or something like that.

Fact is police have to do their jobs somehow.
Lets just take race out of it for a second.
You want the police to be equally suspicious of wealthy and poor people? Even though poor people are more likely to commit the crimes?
What's the logical response if your job is to prevent crimes? Focus on the rich or the poor?

How is it fair I have to have my rights violated and time wasted, treated like a criminal/suspect just for having a light brown complexion?
I can't run in a park without being questioned for breaking into houses? What the phuk does that even mean? Because I am a minority that means I'm probably stealing, so if you ask me and run my information I'll admit it? It's bullying tactics, violation of my rights and time, and straight up discrimination. I had no reason to be a suspect, what line of logic would say a minority running in a park at 1pm in the afternoon with tons of people around is probably robbing houses in the area?
I don't give a single phuk about them trying to "fight a war on drugs" that disproportionately puts minorities in jail, when it's been proven white teens do more drugs then black teens.
It doesn't bother you because you aren't having your rights violated.
If you knew anything about the statistics, it's ridiculous, this is from my sociology paper i wrote, legitimate sources.
"In the study “Justice on Trial: Racial Disparities in the American Criminal Justice System” many sources of information were observed an analyzed to show a strong biased towards minorities, especially blacks, in traffic stops. While blacks generally consist of about 15% of drivers or passengers on the roadways, they consistently make up about 70% of traffic stops. In one of the studies in Florida, 80% of the non-white driver’s vehicles were searched after being stopped. This type of policing significantly increases the amount of minority arrests that would have otherwise not occurred if it was not for these biased practices. This concept of biased policing towards black drivers is often referred to as “Driving While Black”, a humorous spin on a real problem."
(5.666 whites for each black, and blacks are taking up about 2/3s of stops... That means blacks are pulled over 11 times more often for being black. Furthermore, minorities in general are then getting searched 4 times as often, when you compare this number to the number of whites, minorities get searched 10+ times more often.)
The fact is, you have a giant target on your back as a minority, so we have to be "extra straight edge" or at the very least "extremely cautious" or we will almost certainly end up with an arrest record.
brb minority, brb 10 times more likely to get a heavy drug charge for having 10$ worth of a certain green plant.

There are probably just as many or more poor whites as there are hispanics and blacks who are poor.
But they aren't being targeted.
And if they are searching cars for drugs, rich people also do drugs, so that doesn't even matter they are rich.
They are just as likely to have drugs.
while poor people do more violent crime, rich people use drugs and commit non-violent crime.
The primary purpose of a car search is to find illegal weapons and drugs, mostly drugs.
In which case, rich vs poor means nothing.

Honestly don't want to start a race thread. But I'm not white.
I feel like if I wasn't driving a sports car/minority I wouldn't have been treated like I was

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Most cops join for the power. When you dont let them intimidate you it rustles their jimmies so fukking bad.
Had a cammed, full exhaust GTO. Gave it a little throttle (3k RPM) as I overtook a car. Cop obviously was like "herp you can't have loud car on my watch". Pulled me over for "tailgating" which was horsesh*t, immediately got an attitude with me and when I just told him to just write me the ticket and get out of my face holy fuk he got so mad! Told me to step out the car and as we stood toe to toe he just stared into my eyes. I was a good 3 inches taller than he was so I couldn't help but grin as the power hungry mongrel was filled with rage.
Height mogged
Intimidation failed
Salary mogged
Facial mogged (was 19 at the time and cute as fuk)
He knew he was powerless over me and I'm sure he took his anger out on some black dude later that day (double win for me)

even though whites are like 80% of the population, they somehow are only targeted like 20% of the time.
meaning as a minority you are like 15 times more likely to be pulled over/searched then a white person.

huehuehue
In all seriousness, sure, I will never know what it's like to be black. I don't doubt that there are days that you are feeling threatened or targeted. I often wonder though, how often is it paranoia vs what is actually happening? You don't have to answer this, because for all we know, you could be lying, but ask yourself "how many times have I been detained?" how old are you? When you are being questioned about houses being broken in to, are you absolutely sure you were the only one in the area being questioned, or did you possibly ignore the possibility that anyone under a certain age or matching a description was being questioned. How were you dressed?
Again, I am seriously asking because I wonder how much of it is paranoia. If you were wearing a polo and khakis vs a hoodie and baggie jeans, do you think it would make a difference?

Ok first and foremost. That cop is going to get in trouble in the long run. Why you ask? Well it's because he gave you a warning. The entire premise of a traffic stop (according to the Supreme Court) is for the primary violation (Speeding, busted light etc) and every now and then the plain view doctrine shall be articulated in court. However cops have been getting in to deep chit from the ACLU because they've changed the entire narrative. They are now pulling over people not for the primary Violation but rather just to get into peoples car. How can the ACLU prove this to be true you ask? Well if the police departments care so much about speeding and bust tail light why are they never writing citations for them after the fact? After search the car and inconvenience your day, they let you on your way without a citation for the reason they pulled you over for from the get go.

Everyone wears hoodies... so everyone is a criminal who should be stopped and questioned, pulled over in their car?
What the phuk does "looking like a criminal" even mean?
That's retard logic.
Which is completely besides the point anyway. I got questioned in the park with an ipod earbud in my ear stretching wearing a tank top undershirt "wife beater" and a pair of basketball shorts with nike air maxes.
I get pulled over wearing a t-shirt or hoody all the time.
I would say I get pulled over 2 or 3 times a year simply to be asked if I am drunk or have drugs, where I am going and coming from, and not written a ticket.
I know for a fact cops follow me and run my plates literally weekly.
They have cameras that automatically do it now, they roll behind you for 2 minutes, if you don't come up in the system, they dip off.
I have no record and never been arrested.
Let me give you another example.
~3 years ago, I was standing in front of my friends house around 1am talking to him under a street light on the sidewalk smoking a cig.
Cop drives by, sees I'm a minority, decides to turn around.
We go try to go in the house and he stops us.
"There was a break-in in the area and you match the description"
"Why the phuk would I be standing outside on the street if I just robbed someone? Wouldn't I have better things to do, like sell the chit for some crack or something?"
"we are just doing an investigation"
"Does it look like I'm stealing from anyone right now?"
"whats your problem"
"I don't like cops"
"why?"
"Because I'm a minority and get stopped all the time so you can find a reason to arrest me. What evidence do you have I stole anything, I'm just a hispanic male having a conversation on the street. Am I free to go or are you arresting me?"
"Have a nice night"

There are probably just as many or more poor whites as there are hispanics and blacks who are poor.
But they aren't being targeted.
And if they are searching cars for drugs, rich people also do drugs, so that doesn't even matter they are rich.
They are just as likely to have drugs.
while poor people do more violent crime, rich people use drugs and commit non-violent crime.
The primary purpose of a car search is to find illegal weapons and drugs, mostly drugs.
In which case, rich vs poor means nothing.

It doesn't matter that more white people are poor. Are lower percentage of total whites are poor compared to percent of poor blacks.
You randomly select 5 blacks and 5 whites you have better odds the blacks will be poor.
This country is 75% white and 12% black. I sure as sh*t hope 5 teenage whites are using drugs for every 1 black kid cause if it was 1:1 you'd really have a problem then.
Do you even total population? Higher percentage of blacks commit crimes than percentage of whites.
That is the key statistic. That's why you're profiled. Not total number you clown.
I suggest you rethink the stats you throw around
I have to gym it up now. Peace bitch. Pick up a stats book and learn something while I lift
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Furthermore, minorities in general are then getting searched 4 times as often.)

Lucky most the cops in NZ are friendly.
Been pulled over cause there was a driveby with my car description. Officer just asks for my ID and then let's me go and apologises for pulling over the wrong person.
Another cop meant to impound my car, lets me off with a ticket and demerits
Went to bail out a mate from custody for fighting, lets him out early because he saw I was sober and could look after him

He flashes me down.
Pullover and I turn off the car. Roll up my sleeves, put my hand on the steering wheel. Roll down both my windows.
Me: "how you doing officer"
Cop:"hands were I can see them"
Ok......
Cop:"license and insurance"
Me *point to pocket*
"My wallet is in my pocket "
Cop: "go ahead"
Hand him my license and tell him "my insurance is in the glove box" he gives me a nod.
I reach for it
Cop:"DON'T REACH"
*HE HAS HIS HANDS ON HIS PISTOL*
not going to lie I got a little booty tight
I freeze and keep my hands up
He tells me to step out of my car, and puts me in cuffs for "his and my protection". Pats me down and takes my wallet.
Never complained or was loud. I sat on the curve while he ran my paperwork.
"Anything I need to know about what's in that car?"
Wtf
"Uhhh.no..no sir"
Cop: "why are you so nervous?"
Wtf this isn't happening
Me: "just nervous sir" (probably was not the most eloquent thing to say)
Cop:"do you mind if I search your vehicle?"
Me:" I would prefer you didn't *pause*
but yeahh sure"
He rummages through my car, and after a bit he comes back and says "what's this"
It's baggy of my vitamins/fiber/supps
****
I know what this looks like
"Just some supplements sir"
Cop:"supplements?, these don't look like no supplements"
He goes to his trunk with the baggy, spends like 15 minutes doing idk what. He comes back and goes on the radio in his car. Can't hear what's he is saying.
I'm on the curb freaking out. Never had anything like this happen before.
It's been like 30 minutes now. And work is calling. I get up and walks towards his car. Going to ask if it's OK to call my job and let then I'm going to be late. Keep in mind I'm still cuffed in the heat.
He gets out and says"Stay on the curb brother"
Huh
A few more minutes go by and he finally comes back and uncuffs me (them ****s were tight af srs no wonder criminals complain about them)
He gives me back my waller/paperwork.
"This is the situation brother, a description matching you for a car theft is out. It's a generic description we both know that. I'm going to let you off with a warning on the speeding and the backlight, and you'll be on your way"
Didn't even know my back light was out.
Wtf brahs I always defend cops on the misc. I think there doing a hard job with a few people ruining the image.
But this experience has legit made me do a 180
