If you think AR-15s are useless for home defense, you are incredibly ignorant. (PIC)

AR, even a standard 16" carbine is very maneuverable in a house.
I use a handgun for HD, but an AR is preferable. You have to evaluate the reward vs risk. I have a little one, and I have a small pistol safe next to my bed. Easy, fast access to a secured weapon.
My rifles sit in a safe NOT near my bed, so it would not only take longer to access, I have to fumble with keys or a combination wheel. I just cannot leave my AR out because of the youngin. Trigger locks are a joke.

I really want to get a gun for HD but I can't afford one right now, plus I live in California, but hopefully I can get one within the next year or so. Both of my next door neighbors have had their houses broken into while they were away, and there have been a quite a few shootings/drive-bys just blocks away from my house.

How much notice are you trying to give that you're coming round a corner?
Anything inside a house: Handgun
Anything outside: AR15 / G36

The best offense is a good defense, solid door, deadbolt, lights, a security system, living in a good part of town or the country, owning multiple large dog breeds, constantly working outside sharpening and hanging axes for everyone to see, not being a manlet. . .
I have several guns, just don't have one locked and loaded in the house.
Also my house doesn't have 50 foot long rooms, not that great of distance anywhere in the house.

California has suffered another defeat, men. Overnight I've gone from a normal, every day citizen to owning over a dozen weapons that CA now considers an assault weapon.
With the swipe of a pen...nothing more, nothing less.
Now, do I retreat? Do I comply? What do I do?

fukkin LMAO @ that poverty ass 5.56. Might as well have a nerf gun for home defense. Just LMAO
If you don't have an intricate system of trip wires attached to 500lb JDAMs on a hairtrigger at every entry point into your home then you are doing it WRONG.
there are 3 of these at 10 foot intervals in my front and back yard right now. LOL @ even letting the intruder get close to your door.

I keep a 14 foot perimeter wall around my property, complete with wall-mounted claymores and 24/7 private armed guards operating M2 Brownings
lol if you are actively defending your home when other people can do it for you. Only tradies need to defend their home on their own.

Unfortunately here in Canada we either call the police and hope we don't die, or kill and go to jail. Personally if a home invasion ever happened I would just scare them away with the gun, then call the police. In the rare case that the intruder did have a gun, I could and would legally kill them.

Serious question - Where do you store the AR, and is it actually accessible if some nutter was in the next room walking around with his sawn off?
Also you had to go through paperwork to get it, is that really that big of a deal? Everyone seems to go nuts when you suggest maybe a lethal weapon should need a license or registration? If you still get it (because you're not a career criminal, nut job with glue habbit etc) then is it a problem?
