Believe it. I think anyone who would choose their dog over a human being probably has something slightly a miss with them, srs. Unable to comprehend that a loss of human life causes more suffering, than a loss of a doges life. If you think you'd make that decision you must either a) selfish, b) unable to put yourself in the shoes of others i.e family and friends of the person, or c) you are lying to yourself about the choice you would make.

Most of my opinions would piss a lot of people off, but I think the one that would piss the largest group off is that I'm not against men hitting women.

See this baffles me, and kind of leads me to believe you might have something slightly wrong with you. 100% serious.
From those sentences alone I know I would save your life over my doges if it came down to it. You have a family who will miss you, and are likely dependent on you in some way or another. My family and I love, and would miss our doge, but it is nothing in comparison to the pain it would cause your family if you disappeared.

If you can't logically and emotionally determine this in your head, and come to a rational decision in regards to other individuals.. you may very well have something a miss.

I love my doge, and she is a great companion, but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

I genuinely think a lot of dog/pet owners who place too much value on their pets are mentally ill. <-- There you go. I guess that is my controversial opinion. Expecting to see my CPs full of red, but i'll speak my mind. Fuk you all.

Im not. I respect that you feel the way you do, you may or may not respect that i feel this way. Call it selfish, but I am emotionally attached to my dog. I dont care about a stranger I have never met. I dont care about the friends/family of said person that I will never meet. Its not like they will be observing me make my choice. Likewise, I wouldn't expect you or anyone to help me over your dog. Emotional attachment is a very powerful thing. I doubt you have a dog, so you dont know how it feels, but if you do, and you would abandon him over someone you've never met, then you're obviously a stronger person than me in that aspect and im totally okay with it.

And lets be honest, this whole situation is completely hypothetical, how many cases in human history were there where a person is stuck with a dilemma, do I go left and save my dog or right and help this random person I've never met. Never gonna happen, its just as dumb of a question as "would you press this button A) instantly get 100million dollars but B) random 1000 people in the world would die". Guess how many people ITT would gladly confirm to be spamming the **** out of that button.

The cost of human life is superficial, and it matters to nobody but the person itself and those around him/close to him. If i disappeared tomorrow, you wouldn't give a chit. Nobody besides my friends/family would. Unless you put someone on the spot and ask him "would you feel bad if this unknown person died/disappeared" and most people would lie and pretend like they would, but in reality they would forget about it in the next 24 hours.
Thats my controversial contribution to this thread.

you're creating a situation in your mind where you have the time to logically sit down and reflect. You are also not assuming the possibility of being emotionally involved in said situation. What if said scenario had to be decided within 5 seconds? Your dog is about to die, 5 seconds, what do you do? I seriously doubt logic would kick in first.
Told you, that question is subjective to each person's interpretation and its silly.

Fair enough. Nah I do respect it, as I understand why you'd make the decision.. I personally don't think it'd be the right one.
I do have a doge and I love her to pieces, but I gotta do what I gotta do mane.

Not very often lol. But scenarios like this are a good way of getting to grips with a persons personality. I actually find it interesting.. many people have said I come to my conclusion because I obviously don't have the ability to become as emotionally attached to things/people/ etc. Some of my friends asked me this very same hypothetical question a few weeks ago. Out of the 9 of us I was the only one who would made the decision to save the randomer. A few of the chicks were very rustled, and this chubby kunt said I was a "horrible person".

I would like to be naive and carry on thinking that people wouldn't press that button. I like to try and think the best in people, even if my faith in humanity is misplaced.

You're correct to a degree. Like when celebrities die and everyone pretends to care.. that rustles my jimmies... However, if you disappeared tomorrow, and I know I could have done something to prevent that, it would probably haunt me for the rest of my life. srs.

Even, if I only had 5 seconds I would still make the same choice, regardless of any emotional investment.

1. Temporarily sterilization when you acquire a drivers license - which you can revert when you've proven that you're economically well off enough to have children.
2. Ban guns, seriously. I've yet to hear a legit argument to prove otherwise. So many pro-gun nut huggers that don't even apply logic correctly.

If an immigrant commits a crime, he and his family should be deported.
Migrants that claim they are homosexual tot get asylum should be sterilized as gays don't reproduce anyway

Youth culture should not be the dominant culture. Pop music shouldn't be as important as it is today, corporal punishments should be reintroduced in education, ...

Most people don't know what's best for them, so countries should be led by enlightened despotes or a couple technocrats

I'm sure the countless people, especially kids, dying because of hunger, diseases, wars, human trafficking etc in many parts of the world are a major concern in your life

Wot? This is literally not even remotely relevant to what I was talking about. But I roll with it...

There is very little I could do to prevent "hunger, diseases, wars, human trafficking". However, if I had the direct opportunity to save someones life I would most probably take it.. even if it means RIP pupper.

Most controversial but widely believed,is my belief that the West shouldn't have to accept the misery of the world.

This flawed Christian argument basically can lead to the West collapsing.

Instead, saving the West will require some tears to be shed and hearts to be hardened regarding which people to allow in the West.

#3 is extremely silly. Even current political elites overwhelmingly possess backgrounds in law, a discipline that rewards and fosters skill in deductive reasoning. Simply having inductive/deductive reasoning skills does not mean you will use them in different settings, it at best speaks to a capacity to reason within certain domains. In a 2010 study of the 404 most recent Islamic terrorist attacks, 44% had training in engineering with 18% holding advanced degrees in engineering. Good to see they are applying dat der scientific logic.

I find all of those women strange looking. I didn't realise that wasn't the general consensus.

I'm a pretty serious libertarian so I have a few beliefs most don't agree with. I believe prostitution and all drugs should be completely legal. I believe in eliminating speed limits except in residential areas. I think we should completely eliminate all federal social welfare programs including Medicaid, Medicare and social security. I believe in almost completely open borders, which I don't think would be an issue if you ended the drug war, eliminated entitlements and the minimum wage and enacted the FairTax. I also believe regular civilians should have legal access to any weapon the military has, including nukes.

I can see your reasoning on most of this but giving regular people access to nukes?
