I don't support OP's ideal but this is a notion I disagree. The future of humanity, if such a thing is even in the works is to live and die by the planet that birthed them. The efforts being used for this goal could be diverted to helping save the earth. We cannot f*ck things up here on the off chance of siphoning resources from our neighbors. I'll explain how they did it for you OP.

Step 1) Launch rocket into space
Step 2) Calculate Hohmann transfer to Jupiter
Step 3) Calculate necessary ∆V
Step 4) Fire rocket
Step 5) Calculate necessary ∆V to accelerate the craft to an orbital speed
Step 6) Turn rocket in the opposite direction and fire
Step 7) Enter orbit


There we go OP, really not that hard, 15 year olds playing Kerbal space Program have been able to figure this out, you should be able too aswell.

As for communicating with the craft... Jupiter is 4AU from Earth, which means it takes 33 minutes for the radio waves to reach it, so everything you want the ship to do you communicate it 33 minutes earlier.
