I have dozens of medical certifcations, all sorts of training, done all sorts of jobs, have a degree, etc. There are plenty of people like me I meet out and about in the world.

I personally don't give a **** if people want to travel or not. There's a reason I see more Australian, UK, Germans, etc than I do people from the US when I travel. People in the US have this idea that slaving away in the job market is the way to do it and even though the country is over 400 million people, I rarely see them outside of Mexico for their 2 week vacation. Meanwhile it seems like people from other western type cultures have a better idea (my opinion) of traveling and experience.

That being said, you can easily have the things you want by saving up for it or by sacrificing here and there to do it. For me, I joined the military and that set me up for health insurance and college. Boom, problem solved there. As far as a down payment on a house, who the fck cares about owning a home? The joy of renting is in freedom. Sure, I'm paying someone's mortgage for them but when it's time for me to pack up and live in another place, I tell them 30 days out and off I go. No worrying about renting my home out, no worrying about market value, no worrying about getting a new roof or maintenance while I'm gone.[b] Drive a ****ty car? Who the fck cares?[b/] Plus, you can get a decent car (very decent) for 10k.[b]I have a jeep cherokee and it's nice and I even get compliments on it.[b/] I guess I'm just failing by not owning a bmw though right? I always suggest for people to teach overseas for a year. They can make enough money to get by, see if they enjoy it, experience something new, maybe learn a new language. It's a way to make things work while seeing how the rest of the world lives.

I think he's a poverty, late 20s autistic engineer who hasn't even travelled anywhere besides Mexico yet he's telling people to travel lmao. This is the mentality I have as well. I have enough money to travel the world or live for at least several years in some 3rd world country but I don't feel the need to do it. Maybe go on a vacay twice a year and that's it. My siblings would spend months in Europe, they come back and they're still the same people, same personalities. You don't transform into some enlightened guru after travelling.

Made $200k in two years but worked a lot for it. Pretty good considering I turned up without a skill and just did jobs through agencies. Came to a remote part where wages can reach $40 for standard unskilled labour and if you got lucky you got a living allowance (at it's peak I got $900 a week).

Saved $60,000 the first year and blew it all in Brazil living there for two years. Now I'm finishing my second year but haven't saved anywhere near as much. Economy worse, gf, better life etc etc.

I recommend it although the economy here isn't what it was so it's difficult to save now.

In the North West where I am it's hot, humid, not much to do, men outnumber women massively (why I brought a gf here this time), but it's also quiet on the roads, beautiful scenery and if you wanna work you'll find it here.

I have nothing against travelling but I think it only makes sense to do it once you are fully established in life. I'm assuming you are, hence you do it. But I see a lot of people my age, early 20s who don't even have stable careers, have nothing to their names, yet spend several months at a time in different continents travelling, only to come back in even worse conditions. But to each their own I guess.

When you actually think about it, it's insanity. So yes, travel when you're young and figure out what you want to do. I can agree with this. I wish I had done a degree or a trade after I left school, but I was too indecisive. I was 24 in a job I didn't wanna be in and it was now or never. If I hadn't traveled then I'd probably be renting a small room in London doing a ****ty job with no escape wishing my life away.
