debating going to gym before work so i am "seen" at work more even though i will probably end up working less
Same here.

Although I'm officially over feeling (as) bad about leaving prior to others. I still work more than "you", so I don't want to hear a peep.

Applied for a couple of gov't gigs in that area a few months ago.
Kept getting frequent notifications that they considered me in top 'x' applicants, reviewing app further & forwarding to next step, etc., etc....
Then received notices on both of them earlier this week that they canceled the positions. :\

Easiest way to get in the govt is to be a contractor first. Gotta network your way in cause just applying is hard AF, esp if you don't have veterans preference.

^^^ this.

thousands and thousands apply to jobs online or through other avenues, but ultimately you need the network to get the job.

Yep, seems to be the case. Scored complete points on everything but doesn't matter b/c this veteran's family member over here got to level up an extra 350 pts and went to the front of the line. (#no disrespect to veterans)

And I hear you on the networking ... but I hate networking. Something I definitely need to work on more b/c it's not my strong suit. :\

If/when I'm around others, I have no problem w/ it. Done so well enough in the past & landed a few jobs due to those connections.
But since moving here w/ current position, I rarely interact w/ folks anymore, so I feel like I'm out of the loop. Also probably doesn't help that I'm a hermit in my private life nowadays so not meeting anyone on that front either.

it was awesome. I ate a ton of pasta, pizza, and gelato. and drank a ton of wine. we stayed in Florence and then did trips to Rome, Venice, Bologna, small cities in Tuscany like Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa. we did a couple days going thru Tuscany wine tasting and stuff too. Realized that most women and men over there dress fuarkin 10/10 and make Americans look like slobs (think crocs and cargo shorts)

we were drinking in a little square outside our apartment one night and started talking to a local. he was giving us the scoop on all the food spots and places to hit, and ended up offering to walk around and show us some places. turns out he was a goalie who bounced around the lower leagues of the EPL for like 15 years. name was Simon Miotto. now he works with younger players who are coming up (he had never heard of Geoff or Luka) we ended up at another bar and shot the **** about life for the whole night. it was one of the best nights of the trip

During yesterday's interview, director asked me to discuss a time when I've faced an ethical quandary in my current position.
Had to stop myself from asking "which one?"
Then still found myself stretching the limits of my diplomacy while discussing the selected ethical issue (b/c they all involve mrs twat, smh).

man this sounds awesome. wife and i loved venice, and wife has been all over italy. i think we gonna go back next spring time. glad you had an awesome time. can confirm pizza gelato and wine game is on point. also i enjoyed how everyone over there dresses nicer for everyday activity.

thats pretty cool with the guy showing you around. people said we would encounter mean/rude people in europe and we never encountered one....spain, france, england, italy, all of the people were so nice to us and it was very obvious we didn't speak much of the language and weren't always sure where we were going.

jealous of your experience man, sounds great.

Lately, I've been torn as to whether I should do all my pending work before I leave for the day.
Just in case someone offers me another position & I "need" to leave licketysplit. Work is done. Adios, see you later.
On the other hand, if I were to do that, I'd have nothing to do at work the next day.

Mirin trip. Sounds amazing.

& lmao @ slobs in crocs & cargo shorts

(something else I will need to adjust to if I get a real job since I typically slack w/ the fancy business attire nowadays)

wierd af. think i meant to type "and man im tired", but i was still half asleep so typed the bold instead. normally wouldnt think anything of it, but when i got to work there was a duder sitting on the stairs in front of my building dressed in red, tattoos all over and facial piercing (tellit can confirm via bullet holes in wall that i work in the hood), being that im the first one into the office most mornings i had the pleasure of telling this scholarly gentleman that he could not hang out in front of my building. just a wierd deal, then i saw the above post that i dont remember and thought i may have be foreshadowing my own morning.

In which case, I personally wouldn't bother.
But then again I avoid these things like the plague regardless.

Looks like a 30+ year gap b/w those two; I'd peg them for mother/daughter before I'd ever guess sisters.

but yea she didn't make any effort to come to our wedding/events which rustled my jim jams seeing as how were a pretty small family and its only a handful of us cousins
