I with held a lot of info from the ******** status just to give you guys an idea. You would have absolutely cringed at the hashtags which basically said "I'm the boss, not him!"

I hadn't previously looked at it, just went by what my wife said. Now I'm extremely rustled and will be calling or messaging brah-in-law to ask if that ******** nonsense was about us.

lmfao @ guy subtly asking you to pay more and more of his wedding. Cheeky bastard.

"hey OP, me and fiance decided to get an open bar and lobster for all the guests, see if you can put that on the card to split with the other guys"

the only destination you need to go on his wedding is north carolina

OP, with the amount of money he's expecting for you to chip, do you get to bang the bride on the wedding night too(since it's basically your wedding)?

imo it's understandable not to pay for travel, but don't get mad if someone doesn't come if they live far away. room should probably be paid for. all the weddings I've been in they rented out a bunch of rooms for the wedding party.

after that absolutely everything else should be paid for, for the people doing YOU the favor of being in the wedding party. you are an absolute cheapskate pos friend if you make your friends pay for their tuxedo rental.

can't believe all the *******s itt boasting about how great they are b/c the 'only' cost they stuck their friends with was buying/renting clothes for their wedding lmao.

Just fukkin LOL at weddings and the amount of money wasted on 'em, just to impress friends and family.

Your friend's an idiot for wasting even more money for the 2nd time around and he's expecting you to help out with the cost. Just kindly decline - you're not obligated to attend, simple as that.

Let me give you this perspective.

1. You've known the guy 10 years and didn't know he was capable of pulling this nonsense?

2. You can't tell him how you feel bluntly?

If the answer is no to both, then you need to look at your own decision making skills and figure out how to get better at picking up details and expressing yourself adequately.

one of my closest friends from high school had us all pay for our own tux and hotel (1 night) when he got married and I was a groomsman, and he was making like 150k at that point, meanwhile I was making 46k at my last job. also spent like 600+ on his bachelor party.

I agree with this guy. 10 years in, you should know whether or not this guy is the kind of guy to either go full retard and ask you to spend this kind of cash or to be master cuck 2016 and allow his wife-to-be to order him around and demand that people spend this much. Either he or the wife-to-be are stupid or possibly both. I can't understand why OP didn't know this beforehand.

I honestly cannot fathom making someone pay for their tux/clothes to be in your wedding. at that point you are just using your 'friends' to finance a wedding that is beyond your budget.

how old were you when he got married and how long has it been? are you still good friends with him?

26, we're 29 now

still friends, although i never fukin see him anymore, he lives 5 minutes away and we hang out twice per year (srs)

he's always been pretty cheap in all honesty, the way I was raised, I'd pay for everyone if I invite them to something like that, or even out for drinks I'm always down to buy drinks for friends, assuming they do the same on different occasions. He's always been the type to split the check down the middle, even though he was making 80k out of college, and I was making like 35k as a temp

Been in a lot of weddings. Paying for your own tux and hotel is pretty normal.

Anything past that is on him. If he wants a boat, tell him sounds awesome but you're at your budget for the trip.

Why would they hold the wedding somewhere if they can't afford it and depend on the wedding party to pay for it?

GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

It gets annoying, I've known him from 9th grade, so 15 years now. We used to hang out all the time. Once he moved in with gf, he's impossible to hang out with, always busy with something, NOBODY is that busy.

Yup. I can typically tell within a few times hanging out in different scenarios what type of person someone is with money.

The people I call friends are few. But when we get to that level we don't ask the questions you ask OP.

My groomsmen paid for nothing.
One of my grooms men was so busy with his practice and 4 kids he only had a 24 hour window for my bachelor party but still flew from the U.S. To Prague....to party with us for 1 night.

Obviously I told him don't worry about it, but he said it must be done.
That's the kind of company I keep.

Re-evaluate who your "friends" are.

RESPEK

three of my fukin so-called "friends" wouldn't even drive 40 minutes for my birthday party on a party boat, last week with a month notice because they waited till the last second to "buy tickets" which were sold out, pissed me off and made my respect those who came. I haven't spoken to them since.

i feel you brah the last wedding I went to I was a groomsmen, and the ***got groom did such a ****ty logtiscal job organizing the event that not only did he force me to drive drunk from the reception, his ***got friend who we agreed to double up hotel rooms decided to get with a 4.5/10 and kicked me and another groomsmen out so we had to drive back to the reception hall to pick up my car because the other groomsmen was driving home at 4 am, and it was in bum**** wisconsin so my phone was constantly on roaming and what should have been a half hour drive turned into a 2 hr drive after drinking straight vodka the entire night. and then after sleeping in my car I awake boiling alive in 90 degree heat after only 2 hrs sleep. **** WEDDINGS! I'll never go to another.

take note boyos. this is the type of friend that makes you pay for a tux to be in his wedding.

I've only been a groomsmen in two weddings and didn't pay for chit. from the usa.

it might be normal for people who are chitty friends. not sure why a guy would agree to that. i mean girls i understand b/c they love weddings and want to be in them but aside from being honored to be asked to be a best man/groomsmen i honestly couldn't give two chits about actually standing up front during the ceremony.

Agreed here son...

I've really 'tailored' my friends group recently and probably offended people in the process. I understand that some people aren't as financially stable as others, but if I can't go out to dinner and split the bill equally despite what meals were ordered, then I have no interest in being your friend.

Story #1: This one couple I've known since high school got worse and worse. We would all go out and she would say "we ordered a salad for the table but I didn't have any so I don't want to pay as much". I used to put up with it but not anymore.

Story #2: Down at GF's parents beach house that they rent out, needs to be professionally cleaned after use (long story, it's a holiday rental etc), it costs about $70 to clean. Group of us go down there, GF's parents never charge us to stay (it's rented out for $500+ a night) but say split the cost of the cleaner to have it properly cleaned. Worked out to around $15 a couple. The same couple as above refused to pay it saying we were 'trying to profit off our friends'. NC them ever since, haven't invited them to anything, don't want a bar of it. Recently got told by another friend that they were offended they never get invited out anymore...

Story #3: This was about 4 years ago before the above happened, a mate had a 21st at a really nice restaurant. It was $70 a head with drinks included (cheap as **** as it is, not to mention we were drinking $800 bottles of wine that night), they complained it was too expensive and said they don't want to pay it. Mates dad said "fuk it, I'll pay for half because you've known my son for a long time and he would like you there". The next day they went out and impulsed bought an iPad, went into the city and to a club with $20 entry.

Fuking ****s.

/useless story no one cares about

Cliffs:
- Some people are kunts, don't be one of those people
- Choose your friends wisely

You have good reason to question where you stand with them. If you value a relationship, you don't "forget to buy tickets"

I'd rather have 5 solid friends then 20 acquaintances.
Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of acquaintances, but there is no expectation on my part that they will come through on anything important.
