I moved to Portsmouth. It's a little hipstery but close to work. Lots of places to eat. And it's in a good spot on the coast so beaches, maine, etc are all easy driving distances. Even Boston is only about an hour. I like it a lot better than where I'm from but I will say it's expensive.
The only real negatives are the little expenses that add up. Changing over drivers license, car registration (NH has no excise tax but instead they tax the crap out of you to register your car). If you drive anything nice expect registration to be $300-$500. LTC however is a whopping $10 and takes a max of 14 days by law. My only other gripe is this area is expensive so if I decide to buy a house down the line it won't come cheap. But still, no more MA bull**** gun laws, no sales tax which saved me a ton when I bought my car and switched bikes this year, and no income tax.

Deciding if I want to drink or not. I want to drink lots of bourbon and sleep in tomorrow. I also have been feeling caged in and want to wake up and hike in the morning.
Maybe I'll drink a little then wake up and play 18 of disc golf. That seems like a good compromise.

Hey guyth. I think I had a dream I was dead. I wish I were. I ordered some of those salt stick chews and caplets that have caffeine in them, too, hope they get here today. Been off EC stack for the past four days, no caffee, either. I dunno how I've done it.

But most of the 14ers and other hikes out here are free or very cheap to access.Do you have to pay to get in those places or can you just park at the trailhead? Do you have gear?
Gear depends on what you will be climbing and when you do it. There are several 14,000 foot peaks out here that are pretty easy climbs, supposedly. The tallest one here is also the easiest, with a trail going all the way up and no real climbing to do. Others are pretty damn crazy in spots. I haven't done one yet and my gear is pretty basic. I have boots, a decent backpack, good socks, breathable and warm clothes, rain gear, etc. I don't have any winter climbing stuff. A lot of the easier climbs here you can do with a day pack, some snacks and water and not much more than a jacket and decent boots or shoes.
There's a site out here that has tons of info on the 14ers to climb . . . pics, trail reports, route descriptions, etc.

Grays & Torreys are two close and easy ones that are on the list. Not sure what I will do for the first. You can do Grays & Torreys in the same day and knock out two since they are right next to each other and share a saddle. But I also have heard Bierstadt and Elbert are pretty easy.
