Any recommendations on a great 9mm semi-automatic? Price isnt an object. Its been over a decade since Ive last purchased a handgun, Im more of a rifle guy but looking for something new at the moment. Something that holds 15 rounds is my only real requirement, everything else is just a preference.

What are you wanting to do with it? Just a range toy . . . competitive . . . home defense . . . maybe going to try to concealed carry with it?

General response would be Glock 19, H&K VP9 or Smith & Wesson M&P, but you have some thinking to do about what the purpose is and what you want to get out of it. You said "money is no object" but something expensive isn't necessarily what you really need.

Happened in the range.

If you ND, you're done shooting for the day. People are shaken up after that so it is just safer for everyone to stop.

We've had three ND's, none resulted in injuries.

I'm also looking. When I went to the range Saturday, I shot better with a Beretta 92 than a Glock 19.

But, I need to try out other pistols before making my decision.

Morning bros

Guess I'm getting a new roof since this happened Friday night. And all new windows on the south side of my house, too. At least I park my cars in my garage... all the cars in my hood that were outside have no windows left.








Couple houses somewhat near me got hit by lightning.

Understood and I shouldve put more details about this. I figured I wouldnt though cause Im not opposed to buying more then one. First up though would be for carrying. All I have currently is an older ruger p89.

So far Ive been researching the Smith & Wesson m&p and the Sig 226. Ive never been a fan of glock's although I would consider it.

As for the expense line, I do like spending time on the range so it would get use. Ive just been out of the pics with handguns for a long time and manly shoot rifle.

I've always disliked Glocks myself too....but the new Gen 4 19 is a really nice shooter. A buddy was bragging about his one day, made me shoot it, and I will admit, they've come a long way.

Worst case scenario.....you throw a nice Zev in it.

That Shield is a great carry gun. Some of the guys here carry much larger guns. Personally, I like more concealable single stacks.

Honestly....I think you should buy both. Two different guns that have individual utilities.

Haaa dont twist my arm. I will probably wind up buying multiple anyway but one toy at a time... Also looking at the 1911's 45 just cause... but not necessarily for carry, just always wanted one

I cant imagine too much being as large as the old ruger I have now

If the intent is to carry concealed . . . highly recommend a single stack 9mm for that. M&P Shield, Glock 43, Springfield XD line, etc. There are some here who carry a full size--G19 or VP9--but that's just not comfortable to me. I carry a Shield and the weight and thin frame are difference makers in comfort and concealment. I am fine with sacrificing a little capacity for that.

You can even look at something mid-size (compact) for carry like a Glock 26 or an M&P compact. Capacity of 10 (or thereabouts), with width the same as a full size but shorter slide and grip. Then you could have a full size for the range and HD.

EDIT: either way . . . find a place where you can rent/shoot many options and pick what you like & shoot best.

Many would steer you towards a CZ SP-01 (75 platform). Do it.

Glock 19 is more than likely what you seek. 226 is probably not, although it is a very very good pistol imo.

Gonna be a rough summer for Colorado insurance companies-and "hail season" isn't over yet. Pepper for the rate hikes.

Guy across the street was told after his roof claim that he was probably going to get dropped because he's had 3 claims in less than 5 years.

Thursday: Look up info needed to take to BMV to get new license and tags.
Friday: Go to BMV with all info listed wait 30 min and get told I need a "copy of my birth certificate" (was not listed on BMV provided website)
Saturday: Go back to BMV, wait 60 min, get told my photocopied version will not suffice and that I need original.
Sunday: Parents and I each drive 2 hours to meet halfway to get original birth certificate.
Monday: Spend 90 min again at BMV, finally get license, but still have to go back later this afternoon to pick up plates


Now I get where the argument that it's easier to buy a fully-automatic, death reigning, babykiller rifle than it is to get a license to drive a car comes from.

Part of my new job is assessing hail damaged roofs for structural integrity. Pretty incredible how much damage it can cause.
Sucks to hear that Rax-brah. That process can be a nightmare.

If you're looking at standard 1911s- Les Bear Custom, either an UTC or a PII with fixed sights for carry.
