I just had to get tested last week and know a LOT of people who lost years due to it, its a huge epidemic no one is really talking about...CDC estimates around 350,000 people will get it each year in a very small center from eastern PA to Maine along the coast line/far north east north east. Majority never knew they were bit by a tick and most don't get the bulls-eye rash. ExOfficio makes pemethrin coated cloths I would look into.....cheap insurance.
srs, don't take the Lyme risk lightly man.

Did you train beforehand? Do you recommend some sort of training?

Have you ran into the trail angels Miss Janet and Santa's Little Helper?
When i was doing the highlands i decided to take some side trail that cut the big horseshoe you do in half (saves like 12-15 miles). Anyways ... that side trail got pretty thick and sketchy at a few points. Right when i was thinking that i made a bad decision i come around a corner and there was a huge longhorn cow staring at me. I've been around cows before ... but when you're not expecting one (especially a longhorn in that area)... i legit was like...

When i finally found my balls again i realized it was behind a fence. Best thing was... a few hundred yards down the path was another fence where they had separated all the baby calves into. I got my vengeance by chasing a bunch of them around for lols. My attempts at wrestling one to the ground failed but i did succeed at tripping a few. Good times!
Oh ya... one of those little horses bit me and tried humping one of the chicks i was hiking with lol.
