HBB mureder while jogging

The body of Karina Vetrano who had recently celebrated her 30th birthday in Saint Tropez, France was discovered by police, with her running tights pulled halfway down, in the weeds around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, sources said.

Her worried father, a retired firefighter, had called 911 to report the St. Johns University graduate missing at about 5 p.m. after she had failed to return home from her regular run along the Belt Parkways bike path, according to the sources.

Sources said a cause of death has not been determined, but she appeared to have been strangled.

Vetranos father, who neighbors say retired from the FDNY on disability, was called to the crime scene as sobbing neighbors gathered outside his home on 84th Street.

Even before the remains were identified as Vetranos, neighbors feared the worst. One young girl on the block collapsed in tears as police investigators descended on the neighborhood.

She had a routine jog, one neighbor said.

Another neighbor, who would identify himself only as John, said Vetrano went jogging with her father nearly every night before he suffered an injury.

He asked her, Dont go in there,  John said, referring to the weedy area.

They found her phone over here [on the path] . . . If these weeds werent this high, we would have seen her, John said, adding that all girls know not to walk along these weeds.

This is why I told my wife she is not running alone ever again.

There was one girl who was attacked while on her bike. Only like 60ft from her house. Pushed into some corn field and there you go.

I see way to many of these instances happening. I see the picture of the girl, and you can do the math.

At least with one instance. I read about one woman doing her run hear her house. A truck of men stopped, got out and walked towards her. She told them she had a gun and will kill them. They turned around and left.

We need more stories like that. Women need firearms to protect themselves.

Jogging as a woman can be very dangerous. One evening I went jogging around my neighborhood and all of a sudden , when i turned around to look behind me , there was this fat 6.4 feet tall Man running behind , Completly naked ! Holding his shorts in his hand . My bad luck was that I had left my phone at home and had my Earbuds on .... Music blasting... Who knows how long he was running after me. I told him to get the f away from me before I called the cops. He kept running , getting closer , thought he was gonna strangle me, but he decided to cross the street and follow me from the other side . I then caught some courage and said to myself , is either you or him... Started running faster than ever, got home and lost truck of him. I thanked God he couldn't catch up . So many sick people out there !

Someone I'm really close with just had his daughter murdered 3 days ago while out during her daily run. Honestly clicked on this thread wondering if it was about her.

Where were you running near by? Should have ran to a gas station or some kind of store than home, then call for help.

I know a girl who has a fear of running past weeds/woods and having some lunatic jumping out and cutting her Achilles tendon. I also know girls who do pack heat when they run but that has to be miserable. Fuking can't even go out for a run without having to worry about getting raped or killed. So sad

RIP. I run along a very deserted path. My family is always telling me not to run that path and I'm always like, STOP, DON'T WORRY! I assume this was her excuse. Sucks to be in your prime life, running along and then it's over. If we only knew...........

Yeah im dead serious ! I thought running one or two blocks around my neighborhood wouldn't be dangerous . But it happened and I wish I would have made a police report but I didn't know how to proceed . I haven't told anybody until years later. I didint want to scare my family .


How it changed my life ? It made me get a freakin gym membership. Now , I always walk with my earbuds off when exiting the gym, and always check my surroundings .

I've also looked at the registered sexual predators in my area to see if I could identify him, but he wasn't on the list . I remember him as a pale man with chubby cheeks and black hair . Looked kinda Irish or Polish in his late 20s

I was running on the next street from mine , I was like 5 minutes away from my house. The only close thing was a gas station which was like 4 houses away from my house. I thought to myself, how can they help? He has ran away now ..

her mother collapsed screaming after she heard, she had to be taken away in the ambulance. Father is retired FDNY, everyone in the neighborhood was outside last night crying. ****ing terrible what happened to her....every father's worst nightmare.
