Interstellar was decent, but the entire concept of love being so overplayed there made it unbearing.
I watched Shawshank like 5 times, with that being said, I understand why some people wouldn't find it so amazing. It's just a decent story. It has no good motives, no good metaphors, it doesn't even try to explore underlying thoughts and ideas, it's just a plain make you feel good story. It's not exceptional. If you think it is, you are artistically brain dead and a pleb. I still like the movie for what it is, though.

Now I'll agree that the ending is super feel-goody, but there is a lot more to the movie than you described.

Some other examples being the beers on the rooftop, the rapists, and the poster, although obviously the narrative ang logical push has to be toward escaping the prison.

In the end though, he just wanted to see his friend so badly, so he did what needed to be done. He dropped his pride, and admitted - admitted he always thought about the crime, about how stupid he was. It wasn't much of an individual defiance.

Some of your favorite movies undoubtedly are the way they are because of those two films.

Fuk most of Nolan's movies, actually. I really don't like his style of film making.

For comparison, can anything name one memorable line Leto spoke as Joker? Laughing maniacally and shooting a machine gun is entertaining to dumb people, but Heath Ledger is the thinking man's Joker and the Joker for an entire generation.
