People who are jealous of others usually want socialism to level the playing field instead of working to achieve their own greatness.

No Thanks Geoff.

Go down to a children's hospital, see poor innocent kids in wheel chairs with cancer and life crippling diseases. They could only dream of being able to run around a play sports, lead a normal life, but they will die an early death.

That's cruel.

. That's true, but that doesn't make my circumstance any better, it just means that some people have it worse.

lmao. You bring up a point though, the vast majority of us are never going to "achieve greatness" at anything no matter what you do. Think that's part of what is getting to me as well, I'm too aware of my own mediocrity

And you don't think that guy might be just slightly envious of Bale, Messi or Ronaldo?

and some have it better, it's the way it is. You can either accept it and make the most of your life or just whine about it and die a bitter man.

If you love soccer keep playing it, instead of playing in the MLS try play in the highest amateur league.

And as I said above he may appear to have the ideal life but it has it's downsides.

Need I list the amount of players who have had mental problems, alcohol and drug abuse after their careers have finished. Gary Speed?

Obviously it's a great lifestyle but there are advantages to being a nobody too, people you meet won't put on an act for a start.

So many nobodies want to be celebrities and so many celebrities want to go back to being nobodies.

Embrace it. I am pretty good at most things that I do, but I will never be pro level. Just have fun with it and live in the moment.

How do you people not feel the same? How do you not feel jealous towards all of the people living the lives you can only dream about but want?

no. you are chasing your concept of perfection, which doesn't exist in real life. As everybody else has said, there is always someone better than you. Even the person who is living "your dream" wants somethign that someone else has that he doesn't. But he just focuses on doing the best he can with what he has, and looks for things to give him passions on life. You find happiness in life through the journey, not just ending up at point B and trying to maintain that level (which btw, you will get bored of fairly rapidly).

There is always something to do and goals to chase, but you don't have any, because you are being a spoiled little kunt that wanted one thing and couldn't get it so you are throwing a life-long tantrum.

Yes you are the definition of a hater.

To compare your current life to an abstract idea of what you think it should/could be is to go against the nature of life, which is in a constant state of flux.

To chase such a life is to chase an illusion, to chase your own shadow. Happiness won't come from such a fixation brah. Learn to appreciate the things that you do have, learn to be present in the moment.

nah it's not like that, you need a scale, they may have great lives but just because they have great lives does that mean ours are chit? No it doesn't.

Chit is when you have nothing at all, when you have no friends, no money, nothing. Or when you have a life changing illness. Thats a chit life.

We normal folk are inbetween, average. mediocre. We might not be able to make our lives great like a pro footballer but we can make our lives good. better then average.

To sum up the thread you have two choices.

1. Continue to fantasize over impossibilities and die a bitter and jealous man.

2. Improve your situation in the ways you can, the small things first. Find a new goal, a personal goal. An achievable goal.

We only get one shot at this life bro.

I have a relatively stress free bachelor life and am happy as it is, I wouldn't want the stressors of other people's problems regardless of how "successful" they seem on the surface. Happiness is relative

I have a steady career
Finishing up my bachelors
Pain free body
Strong support system

That's all I want

yea agreed. I think for me personally i just wasn't meant to be happy in this life. There is nothing out there remotely appealing. Time to officially lay down and rot

Look man I know how you feel. I've been playing music my whole life and although did some cool things with it and made a little money, I didn't end up becoming the touring musician that I wanted to be. I can still do it but as you get older, it gets a little harder to get into the game like that.

So I get it. It's pretty crushing to want something so bad your entire life and not get it. It pretty much negates your entire existence in a way.

The only thing I would say is this. What I've learned is we CONSTANTLY want new things. It is literally wired in our psyche and how we receive dopamine to feel good. So to echo what others have said, they are right in the sense that that guy you are jealous of probably wants what some other guy has and so on. So even if you did have that and play MLS soccer, you probably would feel pretty good for a year or couple years, then be on to the next thing, etc.

I'm sure you have other skills and things you are good at. All I would say is just try to keep and open mind and continue to flourish in this world. Don't let the fact that your dream didn't come true completely crush you and feel like you are just going to rot in this world. It will take some time to let it heal and it will be slow. You will still hold a grudge and feel disconnected from it all. But slowly you might come along other opportunities in other fields that you will have just as much passion for, where you might actually find some success.

So you're either going to slowly overcome it, or something traumatic and drastic may happen in your life (which I hope doesn't happen) where you open your eyes and really appreciate what you have, and finally "let go" of this dream you've been holding on to for so long.

Or you could coach soccer that although you're not a pro per se, you're still getting some enjoyment from the game. Again, slowly open your eyes to other possibilities.

At times, I have made 62k a year with 60k in the bank, and at other times lived in my car. And at neither of those times, nor any in between, did it matter what someone else made or someone else had.

I keep my focus on me and what I need to accomplish.

If you have no interest in anything or making things any better do you think it's possible you have clinical depression? Maybe getting some help would give you more interest in life
