Indians and indian parents always put education above everything.. there are parents out there that will beat their kid for trying to be an athlete because they think it will result in him uneducated. And if you are a woman? Lol, forget it about it. Cricket is the exception of course.. it is their football.

India is very corrupt, if your parents or family are not wealthy/well off...no matter how good you are at sports, they won't support you in athletics in anyway

There are probably random kids that are beastly at soccer (football) but their football team sucks because only rich kids get to participate on a professional level

also they're too busy becoming docs, I think like 60% of the doctors at the hospital I work at are Indians, I know for sure that the Hospitalist group is all Indians

I'm sure they have great athletes there. The problem is India doesn't spend much on sports infrastructure, training, education, nutrition etc. For most families, education is the only priority and everything else (including sports unless it's cricket) is a waste of time. Also politicians in India interfere too much into the affairs of sporting associations and athletes lives which results in nepotism and buffoons taking over.

Bro I appreciate your sarcasm but do you know that there are hispanic countries say such as Cuba who has 124 atheltes and they only have 2 medals?? Mexico has 127 athletes and they have Zero medals as well. India has 120 athletes this year and they got 4th in so many sports such as shooting, running, gymnastics, and lost a bronze medal tennis match. Also Germany, an AMAZING european country with 429 athletes, more than China actually, has 13 medals. Germany alone has more than three times more athletes, let alone rest of europe loll??? Also Kenya alone has 80 athletes, ethiopia has 38 athletes. That alone adds to around 120. I didnt know africa only had 2 countries.

India has close to 0 expenditure on sports other than cricket. We had a gymnast who qualified for finals in couple of events. This gymnast wasn't even approved to take her personal physio until she qualified for finals. Also , Indians have chit genetics for athletics and most sports in general. Also , there's no family support for sports either. Tell a parent you want a career in sports and they'll disown you.
Only thing we're good at is stealing high paying jobs from the americans.

Yet the major companies of the world have indians as their CEOs.

Google, microsoft, mastercard, pepsi, Deustch bank, nokia etc. Even Warren Buffet will appoint his indian partner as CEO when he passes.

Sports isn't promoted in indian culture. they would rather study, excel or open a business.

not until answering customer service calls is considered an olympic event

settle down india bros, just makin a joke.

as stated above, the emphasis in indian culture is on intelligence, and education, rather than athletics.
