99% of young white men: miscers & redditers hate Gary Johnson.

There is no base for him. Without young white men, a faux-libertarian has not votes.

He's not getting votes from any grandmothers.

He won't make the debates. I guess we(Trumpsters) gonna make it.

Highest poll numbers to date have been with millennials as I posted a few pages back. Most miscers & redditers are generally dysfunctional and can't be viewed as representing larger populations. As you can see from this thread, plenty of miscers here support GJ and see why he's probably the best choice of the three.

That's another reason I'm pushing so hard for GJ, regardless of what happens, he needs to show third party is viable, and getting into those debates essential to that goal, if not for the next election.
These two points are spot on.

I can see all the bleeding heart millenials voting for this chump, he's basically pandering his ideals to be center and come off as a Bernie 2.0.

I am sure they will put him on stage to play Devils advocate and his strategy is to be the 'sensible guy' the best of both worlds!

I have to say though, this guy is a massive pussy. He has ber weak character. The last thing we need at this critical time in history is another bleeding heart pussy, pretending to be a libetarian btw, who would get raped by congress and establishment everytime he tried to make a change.

This guy would be a disaster as an actual effective POTUS. Plus his entire campaign is based around pandering to both sides and being afraid to step on people's toes. I think he is just an oppurtunist and I don't respect fake people like this who pander just to get more support.

And open borders is a major deal breaker. Any politician who supports any type of open borders is pandering to Minorities and vagina juice white men.

I'll stick with 'dump' but thanks.

Baha I watched that vid right after calling this guy a pussy, and it's a vid of him calling trump a pussy.

So it's nice to know while Trump is taking more heat than any public figure in known history because he's anti establishment. GJ is out climbing mountains and jumps in race at very end to try and grab support from all the tension built.

I'm sorry but where was GJ this entire election? He comes out of no where at very end with a dic pic and has nerve to call someone a pussy? This guy would fold in two seconds if he was in Trumps shoes.

Interesting numbers showing how much potential room for growth there is for GJ and how many who would potentially vote for him:

"While 28 percent of Clinton and Trump supporters say they would consider voting for Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson, a former Republican governor of New Mexico, more than a quarter (27 percent) of those currently planning on voting for Clinton said theyd consider backing Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Only 14 percent of Trump supporters say they would consider voting for Stein. The numbers also show that both Johnson and Stein have relatively high potential ceilings: Almost a third (32 percent) of all voters say they would consider voting for Johnson , and almost a quarter (23 percent) of voters say they would consider voting for Stein. Those are large increases from where both of those candidates have polled"

LOL. You'd have to be brain dead to think Trump is anti establishment. But as he does a 180 on all major issues, hard to know where the flip flopper stands,

Fighting to get the press everyone else to pay attention to him and his message. Derp He's now finally getting some traction as people now realize their two choices are not bueno, and now he's getting some attention.

OK son. He was a popular two time GOP gov of a border state, and has more actual experience than Hill-Dump combined, while building successful companies (without a mere million dollar loan from dad) and climbing every major peak on the planet and doing other alpha chit Trump could never do. To Johnson, Trump is a pussy.

Why did the Libertarians have to wait until this election to nominate the worst Libertarian ever and attach an impossibly worse Libertarian to the bottom of the ticket?

From a Libertarian perspective I don't know why he is down with a carbon tax, why he believes that government should care about the sexual activities of any citizens or be involved in their marriage, or why he believes that the threat of government force should compel Jews to bake and decorate Nazi cakes. And then there's Bill Weld who is just a moderate Republican.

Can we dig up Goldwater's corpse and try to bring it back to life.

Why did the Dems and GOP do the same? HC is the easiest Dem candidate to beat in decades, unless you have Trump as the GOP candidate...

Nope. This is what we have to deal with, so deal we must, and I'd take two popular GOP governors with a track record and experience running on the Lib ticket over Hill-Dump all day and day.

Even more voting for HC are doing so because she's not Trump and just as many voting Trump because he's not HC, hence those are protest votes.

For me, it's a "protest" vote in that I am not an ideologically pure libertarian but more of a practical, anti-war fiscal ex-Republican looking for a new home since the lunatics are running the asylum now in the GOP, but it will become a permanent protest if they don't clean up their house. I do understand why longtime libertarians don't like Johnson. I watched Stossel's Libertarian debates in the primaries. Peterson is definitely the libertarian grassroots champion and the better candidate for more ideological libertarians.

With that said, there are large parts of Johnson's policy that I do agree with, including the fiscal conservatism, free trade, social tolerance for abortion and marriage equality, MJ legalization, and non-interventionist foreign policy. The carbon tax thing and minimum basic income seem contradictory to libertarian ideology, but those are things where I'm personally not in agreement with libertarian free market solves everything approach (and frankly not sure what the right answer is). The cake baking and BLM support are both just bizarre and wrong. I think the BLM support is rooted in empathy with the movement's libertarian anti-authoritarian stance against excessive police power, but he hasn't done a good job of explaining that if that is what he believes. I can't believe he supports rioting whenever police shoot a black dude with a mile long rap sheet.

Hillary may be strongly disliked. However, to say if Hillary was facing any of the other Republican candidates she would be the 'easiest Dem candidate to beat in decades'. That is silly. This a historic election for obvious reasons. I guess you forget what happened during the last historic election. Let's review:
More than 130 million people turned out to vote Tuesday, the most ever to vote in a presidential election. With ballots still being counted in some precincts into Wednesday morning, an estimated 64 percent of the electorate turned out, making 2008 the highest percentage turnout in generations.

http://www.politico.com/story/2008/1...#ixzz4IJfV9JU6
The last historic election had record turn out with most of the votes going to the candidate making history. Yet with an equally historic election you simply blame Trump and ignore the precedent.

Because he's not a "true" Libertarian. He's a left of center Repub with Libertarian leanings running on the Lib ticket. Instead of being thrilled to death their party being taken seriously for the first time (due mostly to the fact the other choices just suck so bad) some in the Lib party actually undermining GJ. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

GJ is as close to an "old school" GOP as you'll find, which is socially liberal and fiscally conservative. That's what the GOP was until it was ruined by right wing neocons. If the Founders of the country came alive, they'd see GJ far closer to their original intent than Trump or HC, that's for damn sure. Anyone can't figure that out, does not know their history or really "gets" what was intended by the concepts of Liberty they set out to cover.

GJ is far from perfect, but there are no perfect human beings and he's far better than the alternatives. The guy who should up there as GOP nominee is Paul, and he'd kill HC at this point, but they undermined him (GOP worse than the Dems!) as they wanted their puppets to win, and it blew up in their face.

Nothing you "reviewed" alters anything I have said. The polls, etc are very clear, and the approval ratings of both candidates within theirownparty the lowest ever found since they started polling it. If given a viable choice, both GOP, independents, high % of undecided, and enough Dems would vote for that candidate. POTUS was handed to the GOP here and screwed it up yet again. Obama was re elected with some of the lowest approval ratings ever and yet, they gave us Romney. Last time and this time, it's the GOPs to lose, but they are incapable of putting forth a candidate that does not suck out loud. The only positive to Trump is this may be the final change the GOP needs and clearing of the small group of right wing religious neocon types who have had a death grip on it since Reagan.

People will not like to hear it, but Trump can't beat HC. If Trump dropped out (never gonna happen I know), GJ would win by landslide.

Yeah, I completely understand what's going on here, and it's a fascinating phenomenon. The LP was a fringe party of lunatic nihilists who were lucky to get 0.5% of the vote. For this election, they have 20x the support, but it's coming from disaffected moderate members and leaning independent voters of the other parties who are displeased with their awful nominees and who agree with the basic concepts of libertarianism (e.g. limited government, social liberty), but not to the extreme that old school libertarians and LP members take it.

After this dumpster fire of an election, there needs to be a realignment. The center-right best represented by Johnson-Weld but not necessarily the LP are a huge voting block that's been ejected from the GOP by the Bretibart nationalist takeover. The Democratic party is also moving away from those values, too, so that doesn't seem like a likely home. Will the sane people take back the GOP? Will the LP oldtimers accept a moderation of their approach? Do we need a whole new party? I don't know what the answer is, but I do know that right now, the people who can most sensibly pick the leaders of the country are basically adrift in a wasteland of extremism, and that has to change.

Well said sir! Reps for it. Almost gives me faith in misc. posters.

If one really looks at the numbers without bias, they see the % of people out there looking for Libertarian leaning government and policies is easy to see and would jump at the chance to have a leader in that style if they felt he/she a viable candidate. Modern day Libertarians are much closer to "old school" GOP than most realize, being too young to remember and too lazy to do the research. The really sad state is, the black American community thinking the Dems have their best interest in mind, and many not even knowing MLK jr was a Republican...

I voted for Barr in 08. GJ in 12. Would have voted for Bush in 04 if I could have.

I planned on voting for GJ again pre-Weld, but his recent actions have given me pause. I would of course prefer a moderate libertarian over Hill dump, but for the first time the lesser of evil approach is working on me.

I didnt like Obama, but I wasnt afraid of him. I'm afraid of Hillary. I legit think she is the devil. Voting for the strongest candidate running against her seems like a very pragmatic thing to do. That being said, if I was polled I would say I'm strongly in support of GJ to help him get in the debates.

I've never been so conflicted this close to an election.

I don't know why you would be more afraid of Hillary than Obama. As a politician, she's basically just an extension of Obama's governance. On a personal level, she's much more corrupt and less honest, so therefore less deserving of the office, but unless you've had some kind of direct contact with her that she needs to make go away, I don't think you need to fear her.
