I've gone back to not eating almost all day. The feeling/focus from a longer fast is nuts, doing it more for that than backloading cals in the day. Plus I started school yesterday and I need the energy/focus.

not really, take your post cut current BW, multiple by 14 and that should be a good starting point for 99% of people who lift regularly.

A bit more insight to what others have said.

No, there's not much point to to a reverse if you know your maintenance.

Instead of going straight to maintenance, you can slowly ramp calories and get leaner while eating more food, which is nice considering you're usually pretty hungry at the end of a cut.

Ok just tried to squat lmao. I think I will deload until next Monday. Was a joke.

Also need some advice - I think that this 531 type progression really isn't working for my squats. It seems to really really help with my bench and OHP but squats kind of don't like it at all and deads are luke warm but not terrible.

What do you guys like to do for squats? I'm thinking of keeping the 531 going for the presses because they are progressing so well even now coming out of a 6 month cut

Also I think my bench is legit better than my squat at the moment. Not sure I could 245 for 10 squat which makes me sad as hell lol.

But that has to be a major part. Squats never feel the same week to week and I generally have no idea how they're gonna go even as I'm warming up. While bench I know after my first set with the bar how it's gonna go etc bar path feels same week to week etc

Open to all routines. My squat literally hasn't progressed in the time my bench has gone from 225 to 315+

I mean it's been up its been down but generally I'm at the same place I was 2 years ago

it definitely is. I'd start by squatting at least 3x per week (obv manage vol/intensity). Something like a DUP setup for that lift alone will do wonders.

So if I wanted to do that. Can you give example. Let's say a conservative max of 315 so plenty of rroom to progress. And generally right now I'm doing

Upper with 531 bench
Lower
Off
Shoulders and arms with 531 OHP
Chest and back
Legs with 531 dead
Off

What would the squats look like

@ Elvis

Here is the program I used prior to working with hamza. This is the first volume block that got me from 350-370 on my squat in 4 weeks. Also upped my bench from 225 to 235, and my deadlift from 405-425 in those 4 weeks as well.

BoB also worked with Arian11 at one point i believe. This is his program (one that he gave out for free, and is just a template)

I also have the second volume block, and his AMRAP block that I also used before hurting my back last fall.

Added quality pounds to my lifts, with only a slight change in bodyweight, about 162lbs-165lbs beginning weight/end weight. This was before I used the cacao.

If you'd like the program excel sheets to use, PM me an email address and i'll send it your way.

you can just do the squat portion lol. I didn't find the bench volume to be sufficient for me. 10lbs in a month in kind of slim IMO considering my max was 225. but to bring a 350 squat to 370 in a month was quite nice.

mh22 plz. I've been drinking between 1.5-2 gallons of crystal light a day for 3+ years son. Plus using artificial sweeteners in tons of stuff. I'm not saying OMG STOP NOW. I'm saying that I've been using all that stuff for far too long without a break.

As for the tech, nothing has changed. I've been steady cruising since post-show 2 years ago. I have no motivation to blast, I'm pretty pleased with my physique and lift 5x a week at lunchtime simply to kill time and be able to chow on more good eats.

Just sayin, a break wouldn't be horrible for some of you. It may not change anything, who knows. I just had to start eliminating things to get to the bottom of why I feel so bad constantly. I'm 32 and in really good shape. No reason I should be walking around feeling like a zombie.

Currently only flat benching once a week, and close grip once a week. The rest of my volume is filled with accessory work (lots). My strength has dropped a decent amount since lowering protein intake and dropping the other things you use pre meet though lol. I hit 3x5x230 today on bench, which would have been RPE 8 when i was prepping...now RPE 9, 9.5, 10.

You'll be sore for a while but don't listen to the BS about not eating popcorn and hard candy. I had braces twice (teeth moved cause no retainer was worn) and I ate everything. Broke a few off here and there but they glue em back on
