How does to ACOG rate in terms as an overall battle sight? I would think in urban settings/sub 100yds engagements it would be a disadvantage. Any time on tour you wish you had something else?

Majority of our engagements were 100m or less and never wished I had something else, even knowing what I know now. It's just an awesome sight. The clarity and durability is unreal. Granted I haven't used every optic out there but of them I'd take an ACOG for sure. Behind that an Eotech, srs.

Damn that sounds gnarly. I manned a .50 on most of our mounted patrols and absolutely love that thing. No idea what this new 30mm cannon would be like but it sounds fukin crazy lol. I'd be skeptical to replace the .50 just given its unwaivering reliability and raw power but idk how you could argue against a mini Apache lmao

Not sure what the JLTVs are and how they differ from the M-ATVs that we had. The M-ATVs we got were brand new and made by Osh Kosh as well

Looks like the JLTVs are just a slightly upgraded version. Not much looks different from what I can tell. The M-ATVs were awesome, don't know what they could do to improve them really but if they did then it would be an even better vehicle.

Well, the fogging occurred because he blew on it. You breath on glass when it's cold and wet, it's gonna fog up. Putting some kind of anti fog treatment on your optics seems like a good idea if you're going to be in those conditions. Also, don't breath on your glass when it's cold.

FFS Farles, you live in Georgia and used to wear glasses. You should know this.

As the U.S. Army readies to bring its current crop of Humvees into the 21st century with a new vehicle, reconnaissance officials are also looking to replace the Humvee's pre-World War II .50-caliber machine gun with a version of the Apache helicopter’s cannon in 2019.

The Army has embarked on a major project to replace the Humvee, officially known as the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWVS). Last year the Army signed a $6.7 billion deal with Oshkosh Defense for 17,000 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs). Touted as offering more protection and greater off-road mobility, JLTVs will replace a large chunk of the Army and Marine Corps’ legacy Humvee fleet. The military expects to see the new vehicles in 2018 and 2019.
