i think OP has a point, or is at least on to something here. think about how extreme porn has altered some men's perceptions of women. there's some kind of relationship there between degrading sex and respect. women complain about being sexualized/objectified because it's dehumanizing and they feel like they aren't taken seriously due to it.

the people in this thread are afraid to acknowledge that there's something there because they enjoy rough/degrading sex and don't want to believe they're incapable of true love. it doesn't have to be true exactly the way OP said it, but he does have a point.

but could rough sex be degrading if both parties enjoy/agree to it? i don't think so. if both the man and the woman have an equal say/power in the decision to have rough sex, there isn't an imbalance of power as "degrading" would imply. but the sexualization/objectification of women would be degrading, because it's intended for the male gaze and is without women's consent. there's an imbalance of power there.
