Failed today while doing bench. Had to yell to get someone to help me.
Decided to raise weight by 10 lbs today, for 5x5. I don't usually have a spotter so I'm here doing this chit on my own.
By the time I reached by third set, fifth rep for some reason I didn't have enough power to follow through and the bar ended up falling on my chest. I called a few people around that were nearby for help, but they were preoccupied with themselves and had their headphones in. Had to yell until some dude came in with his girlfriend and lifted the bar off of me.
I thanked him, then I got the signature, "You okay buddy?" while his girlfriend looked just at him and said, "That was so close!" feelsbadman.jpeg
Okay, srs question, how the phuck do I raise my bench?
I've been going at it for a month and a half from no prior lifting. Started out doing 95 lbs and got to 145 lbs, but I feel that's too low. I'm able to go up 10 lbs every week with every other compound lift (save for OHP), but I'm finding it difficult to raise my bench, which I can only increase every two or so weeks. Wat do?

Not as bad as mine, I cringe every time I think about it. I ran 5 miles and said f'it I'm going to go ahead and lift too-I have time. I got pinned on bench and the only person who could help me was a hbb blonde who got the bar off of me and then pat me on the head(dead serious). I got the hell out of the gym at that point.

If there's one thing that goes hand-in-hand with my BP, it's my bodyweight. If I'm gaining weight, I'm also adding weight to my BP. If I lose weight, my BP is the first to go.
As far as routine goes, try something like this...

brah,
just do the roll of shame or;
dump the plates off to the side (requires no "safeties") or;
bench in a power rack or;
don't attempt a weight that is too heavy for you
pick none.

Lol my biggest bench gains came from high volume with 5lb increases week to week.
Actually I implemented ed coans training routine and it blew my bench up.

brah it's not that serious. be thankful that you didn't get ****ed up. it just means you were ambitious and willing to take on a task bigger than you could handle right now. lift with a friend or ask for a spotter if you're on your third set.

Bro, here's what you can do in that situation next time you have one of these emergencies.. Just start rolling the bar down your chest and stomach, until you get it sitting on top of your upper thighs, then just sit up.

See, what you forget here is that I have a 5'5" wingspan, so even if I got in that position, I wouldn't be able to reach the end of the bar to take off the weights. My only option would have been to roll over.

This happened to me once too. Sucks, but just remember that no one else really gives a chit. As others have said, I would strongly recommend using a power rack with safety bars if you don't have a spotter. Saves you from injury and embarrassment.

Learn to stop at RPE 9. AKA learn to stop when you think you have 1 more rep left in the tank. Do not grind out to failure.
If that means stopping at 4 reps instead of 5 so be it. Ur boobs dont know what 4 vs 5 reps is.
Since ur not grinding out to failure, ur gonna be able to do more sets. more sets = more practice at the form, and more overall volume which = gains
bench 3 x week (srs)
