Step 1. Learn this

Step 2. If you don't feel like you have it, don't even attempt it. It isn't worth it majority of the time if you truly dont think you can

That's why you have a spotter when you're going to failure on bench. I personally just to dumbbell and hammer strength bench.

1) 10lbs is too much brah. do 5
2) roll of shame like said
3) get a spotter, it only takes one question
4) pay attention and learn what your limit is and how to judge your fatigue. don't push a questionable rep when you are by yourself.

Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

I once failed with 225 which is in my warmup range, just a freak loss of strength. Asked a guy walking by to help me out, he said "nah man I got a weak back" and just kept walking. Couldn't even alert anyone else. Some fat dude bailed me out, I really did not want to roll that down my chest.
WTF "Nah man I got a weak back" then GTFO of my gym douchebag.

I don't usually have a spotter so I'm here doing this chit on my own.
By the time I reached by third set, fifth rep for some reason I didn't have enough power to follow through and the bar ended up falling on my chest. I called a few people around that were nearby for help, but they were preoccupied with themselves and had their headphones in. Had to yell until some dude came in with his girlfriend and lifted the bar off of me.
I thanked him, then I got the signature, "You okay buddy?" while his girlfriend looked just at him and said, "That was so close!" feelsbadman.jpeg
Okay, srs question, how the phuck do I raise my bench?
I've been going at it for a month and a half from no prior lifting. Started out doing 95 lbs and got to 145 lbs, but I feel that's too low. I'm able to go up 10 lbs every week with every other compound lift (save for OHP), but I'm finding it difficult to raise my bench, which I can only increase every two or so weeks. Wat do?

Make sure you are eating enough, and that you have enough carbs to make it through your workout.
Consider trying Smolov Jr.
Work on your form, make sure you use leg drive...
There's no shortage of things you can try, but the big key is to experiment, take notes, and figure out what works for you.

Another time I was doing CGBP and when I stepped away from the bench for a minute, some guy took a 10lb off of one side. It wasn't huge weight but like 185 and close grip is pretty tenuous with an evenly weighted bar as it is. When I unracked that it was actually dangerous, I did embarrass that jackass in front of his friends and the entire gym.

It happens. I've had to do the 'rolling pin over the sausage maneuver' a couple of times.

Gyms have so many f cking employees, it always kinda stuns me that they can't have someone monitoring/spotting at all times.

All the employees do as far as I know is organize the weights periodically, then sit at the desk for the next hour, looking at the computer. That or they socialize with other gym members.
Heck there was an employee right in my area when I failed and she didn't even come to help lift the bar off of me. Phucking sloot.

Do pushups, like 200 a day. That's how I got my bench up when I plateau'd

raise by 5lbs, 10lbs is way too much. i think everyone fuks up as a beginner. i did the same when i was starting out on incline bench. i thought i was gonna die. benching a plate is where things normally slow down, so it's totally normal.

Another trick is to go the opposite direction - the Smolov Jr. program for bench is an insane amount of volume, but you will break through a plateau if you have the balls to complete it. We're talking benching M-W-F-Sat. It is absolutely nucking futs.
