Advise me on a good home defense/tactical shotgun. I've considered the Verp 12, Kel Tech KSG and the UTAS UTS 15. Heard some issues with the latter two, especially the UTS. Advice, opinions? PMs appreciated

if you have heard issues with a gun, why would you still consider it? Stick with a decent pump(mossberg 500(or the walmart maverick) vs benellie nova vs rem 870) or spend the cash on a benelli auto. No experience with vepr 12, but seems like at that cost I would buy an ar15 for HD.

First of all, don't use a shotgun for HD, use an AR or handgun. Especially not a semi auto shotgun. Look at a Remington 870 and mossberg 590. KSGs aren't as good but they're alright if you want to be tacticool. If you NEED a semi auto check out the Stoeger M3k (with a mag extension) and the Vepr is decent too.

Already got a bushmaster and planning on getting a Sig MCX. I grew up hunting with pump action shotguns but I do like the high capacity of these other shotguns. Plus I'll admit there is a coolness factor there too. Thanks for the response!

The M19A1 is a .30 can, not sure on the others without looking them up..don't know why they aren't advertising using the much more commonly recognized sizes.

Early KSG's had issues. They're fine now. When we were prototyping our KSG shell deflectors we put hundreds of rounds of 2-3/4" and 3" through multiple KSG's and none of them gave us issues.
Two were brand new strait from Kel Tec, two were used. It's probably the only Kel Tec product I'd ever own. I actually came close to keeping one that we got from Kel Tec (the price they offered for us to keep them was extremely tempting), but a 12g shotgun wasn't/isn't something I felt/feel like I had to have.

I remember seeing a YT review of it that had all sorts of issues at a range. The one dude said "if I was going into battle, this would be right up there with a pellet gun . . . maybe even a shoe."

1200rds of 5.56 will fit in to a 50cal ammo can.
600rds of 5.56 will fit in to a 30cal ammo can.
1750rds of .40SW will fit in to a 50cal ammo can.

250rds of 12ga 2.75 will fit in to a 50cal ammo can.

770rds of .45ACP will fit in to a 30cal ammo can.
2200rds of 9mm will fit in to a 50cal ammo can.
1200rds of 9mm will fit in to a 30cal ammo can.
300rds of 7.62x54r will fit in to a 30cal ammo can.

In my own experience it's held true for 9mm and 223/556, I can't comment on the others.
