Dreads are cool af, fuk the haters and do what you want

And only idiots think they're dirty or let them get dirty

A restaurant is the last place that will fire you for getting dreads if you're a decent employee. They have no say in whether or not you can have dreadlocks and even though most employees are replaceable, it's not worth losing a good one

I'm gonna go for it, I genuinely want them.

Dreads checking in. I keep mine well kept and sometimes braided for a more tighter look and will know I'm gonna have to cut em off once I have to enter the professional world. Only bothers me a little since I always had a fade growing up and been growing out my hair for two years. But standards have to be kept high. It's nothing personal, but all business.

If you are testing you do not wanna be that guy marked as the smelly hippie before the oral boards, not sure where you are from but you have to take the test and physical here before you even get to orals. Your file will get marked down, it will be known and like most people have stated, you'll be the ganja smoking stinky guy before you even touch the oral boards. Most folks in law enforcement are sharp and clean cut, military style, you will stand out and not in a positive way. Good luck though, just thought I'd chime in about that.

Most corporate jobs do. There usually isnt a specific thing like NO DREADS or NO BEARDS. It will say something like clean and groomed or something like that. It usually isnt an issue if you dont see clients. However, if you are a consultant who has to travel a lot and it is a customer-facing role, you will either be asked to get rid of it, or wont be hired at all.

I used to be a police cadet hence having short hair all my life. I know what it entails. Don't get me started, I was almost hired by them last year but I missed my Psyche Eval which is why I have to test all over again. I've been growing out my hair since then.

-I've had mine for about 2.5 years I work with people that are very critical and will call you out on an issue like hygeine and noone has said anything. Hell, most of them like it and tell me stories about when they use to have them

-I wash my hair (with soap, not just water)MOREnow that I have them. The myth that you shouldn't wash your hair comes from the hippies form the 60's and 70's who wanted to instantly lock up their hair over the course of a weekend. Yes washing it frequently will cause it to come apart, but retwisting it teaches you how to twist your hair and after a while you won't have to twist it at all after a wash. Mine took about 3 months to stay locked up after a wash.

-You don't need wax, in fact wax is the worst thing you can put in your hair, because it creates residue. Back in the olden days the original hippies liked to use it because it locked the hair up faster but in the long run that wax attracts all sorts of dirt thats hard to get out I initially twisted mine with a water based gel. Dreads will only mold if you wash your hair, not dry it, and wear a cap or a hat all day. It has never happened to me but if it does, a couple of apple cider/vinegar rinses will clean it out.

And people are going to have assumptions about you regardless of what you wear or what you're clothes are like. You can't please everyone. There's always someone that will have a reason to bitch about the way you look or your style for one reason or another.

People think dreads are easy to care for and that they require little maintenance, but if you want them to stay nice and neat they can be a hassle.

Its always the hippies. They ruined dreads for everyone.

Honestly things are changing, but you still have people who just hate long hair period no matter what. Even if the guy has the right face for it. Those people are annoying

Dreads are overpowered.

I had natural dreads for a good while. One of the best decisions ive ever made.

Also i think people forget dreads are metal as ****.

I used to have an AVI of my traps and neck. I changed it a while back and tried editing my user title but this website is glitched and it will not let me change it anymore.

Also, prepare to spend a lot of time at the gym and forging new pastimes (hackey sack, anyone?), because you will be getting exactly zero vagina.

Do it. If they say anything tell them they are descriminating against you
You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told you're a god or a total bastard. The iron always kicks you the real deal. It's the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. I have found it to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But 200 pounds is always 200 pounds.

this x2. I know there are probably people who take care of them, but everyone I've met with dreads has been a dirty, nasty, smelly hippie with zero clue about how other people perceive them or how to carry themselves in social situations. Always oddballs and outcasts. That's the bunch you're getting lumped in with if you get dreads, regardless of the factual reality.
