Don't get me wrong, I have membership at the golf club, I do a hobby once a week, I have a gym membership, I spend some money... But I go to these things with my headphones in listening to an album or audiobook.

If I had friends, I would be buying drinks and food, I would be paying club entries, I would be dropping money on vacations and parties and spring break and restaurants and birthdays and all kinds of stuff.

I feel like you can't have both; it's one or the other. But I guess I could save like 5000 instead of 12000+ and enjoy my 20s rather than rot alone.

But how do I even go about making friends now that I've finished university? The people at work are all older than me, same with the people at golf, gym people will have no interest in me since I go to run and swim not to lift. I have no idea where to begin when it comes to making some new buddies to have fun with. Hence why for now, I'm sort of content saving money and enjoying my own company (even if it sounds depressing)
The car will make you happy for one week, maybe two weeks.. then what?

You can still make friends after university if that's what you want. Join some clubs that interest you, go online and join some meetups. You say you like to run, so go join a meet-up where people go running together (https://www.meetup.com/). Go volunteer for something you care about, etc.

I'll give you an idea on how to get friends.

Step 1: stop being a liar. Nobody likes hanging out with liars.

Sounds like you have a pretty decent Job, which you wouldn't have got if you were as much the awkward ******* that you think you are. Work on your self confidence, spend a couple of grand going solo travelling staying in hostels to meet new people, even if it's a week at a time working around your work schedule.

Lol wot? The Boxster in black is such an aesthetic Porsche! Read my post about using it for my weekend getaways and hobbies, it's not something I'm buying to turn heads.

I used to ride a 125 for 2 years and I really enjoyed it, don't get me wrong. But ever since getting a car I've seen how dangerous it is the other way and I doubt I'd go back to a motorcycle.

Inb4 125 isn't a real bike

I graduated not that long ago so I don't even have a year of experience yet. I've only done internships previously before my first "real" job. I don't think it's a wise decision to go travelling before I have a couple years experience.

What if I walk back into a super-saturated market and get called out on why I've never held a job for more than 1 year, ideally 3?

Why not buy a castle estate in Moldova some chit instead
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

I used to make $70k tax-free with accommodation paid, but I got laid off.

I came back to UK and took a job as a junior consultant in the EPS side of a chemical plant. It's closer to home and would allow me to enjoy the Boxster more if I bought one

you dont need to buy a 600K 5 bed house, but if you were to buy a sick penthouse (presume youre in cardiff?) then that is like 200-300K in the city centre.

Not sure how much money you got, but why not put 10% downpayment on something like that (20-30K) plus stamp duty, lawyer fees etc, so youre looking at 25-35K and pay for that.

House prices in the UK go up, consistently.. Your Porsche Boxster maybe worth 15.5K now, but I guarantee you that in 3-4 years it would be worth under 7K, where as a 200K house could be 275K+

Why not look at the older boxster S you can get. If its not about picking up chicks and is about enjoying the drive etc, you can get boxsters (1998-2002 era) for around 1-3.5K

No reason at all : It's not as if you could that sum as deposit for buying a big house and start a family.

Go ahead and buy it , some clueless sloots might even think that you're rich because you drive a Porsche and hit on you.

Condo brah. Buy a condo. It will go up in value too so by the time you inherit the house you will be balling
You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told you're a god or a total bastard. The iron always kicks you the real deal. It's the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. I have found it to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. You'll probably end up spending as much in maintenance/repairs/insurance of an 8 year old Porsche. But if you have $20k to flush down the pisser, go for it
