Go ahead. Try to sell me on *not* being an entrepreneur.
I'm already very aware of the answer here but apparently the majority of the world isn't because the majority of the world still pursues degrees in a field that at the very best, if they are the very lucky, they will get a 'good' paying fairly cushy 9-5. And that's the 1%. of those with degrees. and even then....guess what...its still a "9-5".
If you want to live the goat life, if you want totrulydo well, you need -- you have -- to be an entrepreneur.
You are not limited by earnings. you dont have a salary. that means it can go both ways. Doing everything right? You can still theoretically earn $0. So it i has its pros and cons. But its the risk you have to accept and work past to be able to have truly unlimited earning potential.
So those of you pursuing a degree just praying to get a good 9-5 one day, please tell us why you choose that over being an entrepreneur. thank you.

I don't care about all that investment crap, rather go to college, get a degree, get a good job, pay off debt, save for retirement, enroll my kids in the same process I went through, and never become rich. It's the GOAT life.

If you're not prepared to struggle for at least the next 5+ years, you're not going to make it.

I think you're a little uninformed. At my school 97 percent found full time work within 6 months of graduation and earned on average 48,900 starting salary. Very far from 1%.

If you don't have all of these, or missing one of them - you will not make it:
- Hungry (need to really want that success, more then sleeping or eating)
- Loner (many acquaintances, not many close friends)
- Self esteem issues (constant need to prove yourself)

My father worked 60hr+ weeks for years as an entrepreneur.
He died in debt.
Make sure your business is worthy for the modern age. You never hear about the majority of businesses that closed and failed. If you're looking to open a brick&mortar, you dun goofed

oh look another delusional ******* who read a couple self-help books and thinks he's going to be CEO 10k/day

Don't mind all the h8rs and doubters, bro. Gotta post a couple motivational memes and get back to the grind. We're all gonna make it.

enjoy your high stress lifestyle as you peak at making only a quarter of what you could have had you chosen a solid career and with none of the benefits

One of my best friend has a really successful business. Works his ass off to the tune of 12 hours a days during the week and 8 on the weekends. Rarely gets a day off. Sounds like an awesome life. All the money in the world and no time to spend it

It has its pros and cons
Pros
- Unlimited salary
- Full creative control
- Flexible work/life balance
Cons
- Extremely stressful in beginning until things get to autopilot
- LOT of capital needed (even for online/software startups, lots of marketing $$$ needed jus to get eyes on your product)
- Chance of failure even after years of investing lot of money/time due to wrong industry/research/business plan, etc..
It's a double edged sword. You gotta be very pragmatic.

the one thing that is definitely interesting about these threads is reading all the justifications folks have (to themselves) for why they never tried. many in this thread have had valid angles for sure about risk and whatnot, but some of you guys are coping so hard it's almost comical.
who you trying to convince, the misc or yourselves?

hope you know entrepreneurs work a lot more than 9-5.. it's basically every waking moment. waking up at 6 or 7 AM and not going to bed until after 12 AM, doing non stop work starting their business
bench - 320 x 1
squat - 360 x 1

Hahahahaha @ 9-5.
9-5 would be so nice. I do 7:30-5 with no overtime.
Definitely don't need convincing that having a job for the rest of my life is the worst possible scenario.

Entrepreneur checking in.
The main reason why I see a lot of people fail at starting their own companies is that they either don't have a grasp on how to build a quality brand and/or their egos coupled with their hunger are in the wrong place.
What I mean by the latter is that themajorityof people start businesses for the wrong reasons.
If you're starting a business for the sole purpose of making a ton of money, you're going to fail.
If you're starting a business and NOT putting your ego completely aside and bending over in order to put the customer first, you're going to fail.
That's why most people, miscers especially, won't make it with starting their own businesses. They aren't interested in truly bending over backwards to make customer service for their consumer come first. In business you NEED to put the customer first - always. But they have over-inflated egos and a "Buy my chit or fukk off" mentality, customers aren't stupid and see right through this. Best case scenario you'll make a little bit of money from it short-term, but in the long run your unauthentic approachWILL fail. Period.
Added EDIT:
Not even mentioning the endless hours you'll have to work. People think 'Oh yeah I don't mind working 100 hour weeks I can do it!'... The reality is much harsher, sure you may be able to do it for a week. Maybe even two. But when I was running my online business I was getting NO sleep, my sleep consisted of 2-3 hour naps and then being woken up by phone calls. You are on-call literally 24/7 and if a problem arisesYOU are the one that has to deal with it - right then and there - no excuses.
