Also many have 50k-100k points bonus when you spend $2k-4k in 3months so look into that as well
The other cards:
- British Airways Visa Signature
- citi Advantage
- Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards (great for traveling inside the US)
...and so on.
- Chase Ink Plus (prob the best biz travel card)
- Citi Business Advantage

Anyone ITT care to help a CC-using noob out? Just read the whole thread, and although I'm not yet ballin or CEOin, I see the potential to earn/save and take advantage of CCs. But...I'm a full-on noob and need guidance. Anyone care to point me in the direction of a good resource on how to use these and not get burned ever? Kthx.

Credit cards are a safer and better way for paying your expenses that you would pay with a debit card or cash. A CC has federal protection against fraud that is not afforded to cash or debit card transactions.
Credit cards allow you to earn rewards points or a percentage of cash back that you do not get with debit/cash.
What you want to do is to control you spending by using your card to purchase items you normally do and when you get your CC statement, pay it offin fullevery month to build your credit. By paying off your bill, in full, every month you avoid paying interest.
After a year or 2 of doing this, your credit score will increase, which will allow you to get great financing terms when you go to buy a house/car.
If you want to get your feet wet, go to your local bank or credit union and apply for a card which has zero annual fee. Once you have shown you can pay your bill in full monthly, you will be eligible to get the true baller cards.

As for CC basics:
- Spend as much as you know you'll be able pay back at the end of the month.
- Constantly use online banking to check on the card at least once a week
- Never do cash advances
- Spend as much as you know you'll be able pay back at the end of the month.

I have the Capital One Venture Rewards and it is pretty solid. First year no fee ($59/yr after that), $400 bonus towards airfare or hotel accommodations as well just for signing up. 2X Miles per dollar spent (I spend roughly $2,500 per month on it) so that equals $300/yr in free airfare. I let it accumulate over the last year and will be traveling Europe for almost nothing this summer. Once I start traveling for work I will be putting all my expenses on it as well. Free vacations coming my way boyos.

Saw this thread and looked into this card.
My Amex platinum isn't accepted everywhere (some restaurants, etc) and that gets embarrassing after a while.
Filled out an app last week, got a phone call today to verify fraud and was approved over the phone with $25k limit.
Let the games begin boyos

I use Amex, I'm strictly looking for the best cash back and I think they are up there, I have the $75/year clear preferred. Something like 2,3, and 6% cash back depending on what you buy and where and I doubt it gets better than that.

1. The no credit limit is great on one hand, but there's a constant fear for me that my next purchase will flag their "spending habit" algorithm and it'll be denied. It's not a massive deal, make a phone call, sort it out, and run it again. But that's embarrassing during a business dinner or whatever I'm up to.
2. Lots of my favorite little haunts aren't taking it anymore. Whatever, I have 3 other cards. But now cash is going there and not earning me the points on the Amex- which makes it just a card with an annual fee. I've had a couple 'episodes' as my wife would call them, where when they say they don't accept it, I'll just leave the pile of merchandise and walk out.
