84' brah checking in, so pretty much grandpa status now.
I have some 80's memories, but definitely a 90's kid.
My mom saved all my toys, so at least my kids will have some sweet lawn darts one day.
I remember having roman candle fights with my friends every 4th of July while the parents cheered us on... Pretty sure that would get you arrested now.
So much of the stuff we did (that was completely innocent) , would get you in serious trouble now.
For me the saddest part is watching my friends (who had similar childhoods) have kids and raise them as slaves to technology. How could you not want to share adventures with your kids? One of my earliest memories is getting a tent one birthday, and begging my parents to let me sleep outside all summer.
I have some 80's memories, but definitely a 90's kid.
My mom saved all my toys, so at least my kids will have some sweet lawn darts one day.
I remember having roman candle fights with my friends every 4th of July while the parents cheered us on... Pretty sure that would get you arrested now.

well the thing was that we didnt need much of anything to enjoy ourselves. We just enjoyed being around eachother and playing. Thats what being social is.. Social media is fake attention from fake people who are looking for the same thing you are.. love. and we get it in a completely artificial way now. Thats why relationships suck these days and its nearly impossible to find a halfway decent human being to hang out with.

There was no social media so no one was faking how awesome their life was.
Still had video games and internet, but it was split with actually going outside.

BRB all the kids on the road riding bikes constantly, meeting up in the woods to build forts, get wore out and go play some cruising USA at my house. Then we got older and then all the kids got 4wheelers neighbors would get pissed af.

I feel bad for kids today, Growing up in a world full of technology, music sucks, world sucks, everyone is sheltered and paranoid. Its not even acceptable for kids to go off on their 20" Walmart BMX bikes and roam the neighborhood knocking on friends doors to hangout and hitting up the local grocery store to get a 25c soda from the soda machine and hit up the park.
I like the tuna here.

I live in a larger master planned community and I only see kids outside to waiting for the bus for school. Weekends, evenings they are also non-existent, I figure they are inside playing video games or on reddit.

Born in '85, I guess I'm still a "millennial" since I finished growing up in the new millennium but I did a lot of growing in the '90s and that helped to make me who I am today. I think I was born pretty close to the break point where people were either born as men or as pussies.
When we were kids we would ride our bikes 15 miles to the beach in the morning, hangout, play, and talk to girls all day, then ride our bikes back home when the beach closed. Imagine a kid doing that today, he would have no chance:
First he's likely too fat and out of shape to ride a bike that far, heck he might not even know how to ride a bike since either his parents deemed them too dangerous or he has been a zombie in front of his computer/tablet/phone screen his entire life. Second he'll have the same problems with playing at the beach, brb can't play volleyball or football because you're a fat potato. Third he can't talk to girls because he's awkward as ****.
I feel bad for kids these days. They really missed out.

man those were the days
each and every friendship back then was so memorable and fun.
i spent so much time outside enjoying the sun, skateboarding, and just being a real kid.
kid's these days are stuck in their rooms playing World Of Warcraft with people ONLINE it's fking sad...
music was so great back then, all the great rock/grunge bands were starting to get popular like tool, deftones, alice in chains, nirvana, soundgarden, etc ahhh and 80's synth new retro wave was still VERY popular ! epic times
the 90's were such a great time to be alive
no social media, no ********, no instagram, just real life and real people living their course, no bullchit
i would do anything to go back to 1990-2005 and just pause and rewind, pause and rewind those amazing years... .

Didn't have to try and impress others since no social media, and was actually living life with friends doing stuff and enjoying it rather than capturing every moment for "likes"
ICQ was the new way to talk to people, the lower the number the better (OG oh yeahh)
Actually had to get out and meet people by doing sports/activities. Not so many fatties around where it was deemed socially acceptable to be a lard ass
Got into fights at school - was usually 1 on 1 and were friends afterwards.. not this 10 on 1 nonsense while 100 people filmed it and put it up on the internet.
Wasn't diagnosed as "depressed" like half the kids that aren't even 10 yet these days because they dont own an iPhone 7 like all their friends.
Had sleepovers at friends places while getting all hyped up on candy. Would go to the video store to pick out a heap of movies on VHS to watch for the night, and sneak out at night while the parents were asleep to roam the neighbourhood
Could become friends by having nothing in common. Didn't have to check the other persons instagram or ******** to make sure they had 11ty million friends so you didn't look like a loser adding them as one.
With all the instant gratification and need to be desired, no wonder there's that many kids/teenagers these days getting sad panda about every facet of their life. Comparing ones behind the scenes with everybody elses highlight reel 'messes you up!'
