Never tried kratom and wasn't planning on it. Guess that was a smart move, bc I am in no way dependent on it, so this legislation has zero impact on my life.

And there is the only reason they're banning it Pogue. It doesn't matter what we say, do, or sign. It's going to get scheduled no matter what. Too much money involved to let it slide.

Nevertheless, I signed it bro.

Horrible way of looking at it. The government is slowly taking away more and more freedom and we are all just sitting back and letting it happen. Just because you don't use kratom doesn't mean you shouldn't have any interest in joining the fight in protecting our rights.

This isn't about dependence, reliance nor addiction of any kind. This is another case of the US pharmaceutical lobby trying to protect profits by strangling access to a natural source of treatment. It may not impact you personally, but the world doesn't revolve around you.

There's no profit in Kratom.

By leaving it legalized they're allowing a competitor to the $100 billion opiate industry remain on the market.

This is the same industry that tried to ban vitamins because they're too dangerous....

Yet if you take an entire bottle of vitamin C the worst-case scenario is you'll have terrible diarrhea.

Take an entire bottle of aspirin and that'll be the last thing you ever do.

Which one do you think is more common in every household in the United States?

Has nothing to do with safety. Everything to do with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

And that's why it'll be banned.

Have some empathy for fellow human beings. Veterans are using this instead of using prescription medication and finding it alleviates pain better than narcotic drugs. As a Trump supporter, I guess you support the troops, right?

controlled substances act is pretty farked to begin with. You have the DEA who has authority to make new drugs and/or plants illegal.... DEA is part of what branch of government again? Supposedly only the legislature branch is supposed to make law. So DEA goes and makes it illegal without any say from anyone else. Supposedly because there is no medical value while allowing big pharma to still pursue synthetic versions of the exact same thing and then sell that for a hefty price. The government is corrupt as hell. The higher ups in DEA are on big pharmas pay roll.

I use it pretty often.

I have grade 1 spondylolisthesis (L4-L5) that can make life absolute hell some days. Kratom helps me get through those times. Can't say I've ever really experienced any negative sides on the stuff either. Really hoping that the ban won't go through or else I may have to start going back to a pain management clinic (which I do NOT want to do)

That kind of defeatist attitude and political apathy is what got us in the mess we're in today. What if Rosa Parks just decided "Oh well, me not moving to the back of the bus isn't going to change anything." I agree it probably won't do anything, but as they said during the Spanish Civil War "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees." Inaction is the same as giving up, and we should never give up on a cause we truly believe in. Thanks for doing your part.

If Pete Jones is a true conservative, he might like to know that the DEA is the most inefficient government agency in existence. It has a budget of $3billiondollars a year, but a 1% efficiency rate. If that's not government waste in action, I don't know what is.

I understand. We all want MJ to be removed off schedule I too. But, these are just two sides of a coin. Just a few clicks to send a message to your representatives could make the difference to a lot of people who suffer daily pain and are about to have their medicine taken away. We're both on the same side, brother. But, only by working together to defeat the drug warriors whose only way to stay in business is by keeping these substances illegal is going to be able to stop it.

All it takes is a second to email every Congressman & Senator through the link I posted on my #2nd post. If you could just do that, it might help someone out there.

Just yesterday, I posted this on my Twitter:

You can also work to take action to work for the decriminalization of MJ through NORML. So, get involved, bro. We can make this happen, all it takes is will power.

I never finished writing it. I got into some beef with a supplement company and another forum that unjustly banned me for talking sh!t about their piss poor products that are totally deceitful and bogus. I could have banned the reps here and censored their name from the site since they don't even sell here, but I decided to take the high road and just drop it. The article was done and finished though.

My understanding is Kratom causes physical dependence like that of phenibut. Is this correct? If one were to use Kratom for three months straight will one go through physical withdrawal and DTs from cessation?

While I am not anti drug. I am a drug addict in recovery. After about a 10 minute search on google. This is just merely exchanging one addiction for another. Are opiates dangerous? Yes. Is this drug? It sure looks like it causes the exact same dependence. It is just more easily available. Do I think our criminal system is all messed up? Yes

OP why do you advocate for such a drug? I understand MJ as physical dependence is nada. Mental addiction from pot? Yessir. Why are you wanting people to substitute one addiction for another? Methadone clinics exist for this very reason. Is it better to be on methadone rather than H? Sure as it is regulated. But if one wants to flourish and experience all life has. One needs to get clean. I'm all for harm reduction. If someone cannot or will not quit and they will die if they dont, then harm reduction ie methadone is appropriate.

I kind of already answered this in an above post, but, yes kratom can cause physical dependence - but it's all about the dosages used. Used in moderation, neither kratom nor phenibut will cause significant physical dependence or harmful side effects.

Here's the thing I don't get about either of these. For me, neither kratom nor phenibut get me into any kind of euphoric state. I sometimes take 250-500mg of phenibut if I can't sleep at night, but any more than that and I get a super painful dopamine headache the next day so I can't see why the negative feedback of that wouldn't keep people away from getting addicted, but apparently they do. Kratom can cause dependence used concurrently for about a month at around 5-10g I think? Go back to my first and second post and there are two videos from The Drug Classroom that talk specifically about kratom and how it's physical dependency works and that you can expect if you do get addicted.

What do you mean by DTs?

The standard dosage in the tests of phenibut by Russian scientists were around 75mg to get good effects, so why people would be dosing with grams and grams is really beyond me.

most people would use it appropriately I am sure. But same as any other drug if it causes physical dependence then it needs to be regulated. That's my opinion. DTs are Delirium tremens is a severe form of alcohol withdrawal. It involves sudden and severe mental or nervous system changes.

I experienced these when I was getting off benzos. I couldnt read for a few weeks.

It's absolutely not at all like exchanging one addiction for another. The opioid alkaloids in kratom have less binding affinity for opiate receptors in the brain, so it allows you to ween yourself off without the negative side effects. Kratom also doesn't cause respiratory depression, so you can't kill yourself on kratom like you can on methadone and other "true" opiates. All I can say is go and research it more. Read this thread in full, and check /r/kratom and /r/opiates and you'll see guides for integrating kratom into a successful @ home withdrawal kit. Kratom, along with supplements like tyrosine, GABA, P5P, agmatime, d-phenylalanine and even phenibut, one can successfully kick a fullblown addiction without going into a detox center. Clonidine and passionflower also works wonders.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11679027

Here's a post I made earlier that you must have missed when reading what I'm advocating for:

Kratom does activate the opioid receptors in the brain, but it does it in a different manner that regular opioids do, in that it doesn't suppress breathing and it doesn't seem to having as strong binding affinity to those receptors as say morphine or things like that does.

But, my argument isn't about that so much as it is that it's going to create a black market. It's going to turn law abiding citizens into criminals, and it's going to take a supplement off the market that's helping literally hundreds of thousands of people kick prescription opiates which are at anepidemiclevel in this country. Watch the first video of that poor lady in the first post I made, and then watch the one about addiction at the bottom. We still don't understand all the complexities of the brain and how it works -- even placebos have shown to work as well as anti-depressants. So, for me, it's not a matter of getting addicted to kratom. It's a matter of personal choice.

I'm libertarian when it comes to drugs. I believe anyone should be able to put whatever they want in their body as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else or infringe on their rights. I realize this isn't something everything else agrees with, but go up and watch the war on drugs video too and you'll see that instead of trying to ban and eradicate a substance, we need to use new tactics of harm reduction to treat addicts instead of throwing them in a cage in a warehouse.

As I said in my first post:
All prohibition does is create a black market for the substance in question, which in turn fuels the profits of criminals and narcoterrorists who can readily supply whatever they're looking for extremely easily. It also creates an unsafe marketplace for these compounds that are often diluted and adulterated with more dangerous chemicals, putting the users of these substances in greater danger than before the prohibition was enacted.
PLEASE go back and read the first two posts and watch the videos there before posting any more. I'm repeating myself on topics I've already covered.
