It's not about market demand. Hollywood wants to throw an asian in there to laugh at, example whore female or dorky male.

Latinos don't have it good in hollywood either but better than asians. Black people have it the best, white people scared of riots perhaps.
Why is it that when someone complains (and maybe wrongly so) that there aren't enough role to represent blacks in Hollywood, Misc has no problem using market demand in relation to their population % to justify the reason Whites have more roles, but if it's Asian minorities not receiving enough representation, somehow it no longer has anything to do with market demand?

I liked Oldboy and I Saw the Devil. I watched another that was highly rated though... Memories of Murder I think. And it was pretty boring. They make some good movies.

That. Pissed me off when they cast Mike Tyson in Ip Man 3. Forcibly pandering to a wider audience degrades the artistic quality of the movie. Hollywood should stick to white people and Asian movies should stick to Asians.

What pisses me off is the whitewashing by Hollywood. Casting white people to play Asian roles. For instance, Ghost in a Shell has white actors playing Japanese characters. Other examples include Ang from The Last Airbender. Yes, I believe Hollywood is racist against Asians, particularly Asian men.

I'm sure the Hollywood directors are holding guns to these Asian actors head demanding they act in their movies.

But other races basically have no interest in watching asians.
There are more black people in America, of course there gonna get more roles. Like I said why aren't there more black or Hispanic actors in Japanese movies? its common sense

It comes from American soft power. American media is very dangerous to other countries and subversive. I'd limit it's exposure in Asia if it were up to me and also ban sexpats. Though fortunately the Philippines have a leader currently that inspires nationalism towards their citizens, you probably might be killed in the current environment if foreigners try some funny business.

I feel like Asians are portrayed as smarter and wiser than everyone else. I like the Asian characters, especially the men. The women seem rude and bitchy. Lucy Liu comes to mind.

Check out Hawii Five-O for tough Asian male characters. I know theres others, I just cant think right now.

It's all about appealing to what the majority of AMERICANS want to see from an American produced film. Whites want to see other whites in main roles, be it movies or business. It's not really racism--it's just a smart business strategy to maximize profits. Can you blame them? You would do the same if you were faced with a $300 million film cost and your reputation as a director was on the line.

Good point, it isn't really towards Asian women, it's towards Asian men and for good reason since they're a threat. In goes all the way from World War 2 with the yellow peril. Historically Asian countries have legitimately invaded European countries in the past such as the Mongols and Huns. You can argue the Arab influence is also comes from the Asian continent I suppose. The Japanese before they lost in World War 2 actually scared the west.

So why do a lot of white miscers have issue that certain movies and television force black people to be in them? The "liberal" complaint is legitimate except Asians don't receive minority guilt points.

because liberals are all about diversity. Yes there's probably an element of white guilt, so Hollywood feels necessary to include blacks by forcing them into certain roles, but it's also true that a large percentage of film consumers are black Americans, so it's just another way of maximizing profits

But do you have Asians over there when watching their own own cultural stars play strong lead roles going "Why can't we have some white/black/purple lead roles?". No because ofc wherever you're from that industry will be dominated by people the population can relate to. Of course they don't want to portray another country being dominate. It's only cuck Western lib thinkers who worry about stupid sh*t like what race an actor is. If it was up to them they'd make sure every movie has an equal amount of males, females, transgenders, and race, all rotating in the spotlight at equal amounts. No it's only stupid when they start putting in a race as the main role that wasn't in the book, or something blatantly PC like that. On that point I agree, the actor should accurately represent the character in the book.

The thing with that is since characters on those shows were Asian, if they made the lead Asian, the rest of the cast would have to be as well, and an unknown all Asian cast won't attract Western viewers

Well normally I'd agree with you, but a lot of westerners like to play the silly game that Asians aren't creative, yet they copy and paste East Asian films. Like The Departed is a nice emulation of Internal Affairs. Believe it or not some of the most popular American western films where stolen from Kurosawa films. Culture vultures is what they call them. There is politics to this.
