Take that sh!t off the list. Doctors are herded around by business administrators on a by-task basis, regardless of how long it takes them to do everything - or how many hours a week they need to work.

Pharmacy here in Australia is now largely corporatized. The large chemist companies are ruling the market, driving up competition against the smaller business pharmacies. The end result? Low pay for graduate pharmacists and a bleak outlook compared to what it used to be like.

I know of graduate pharmacists getting $24/hour. Just lmfao. Brb, slaving away hard at university over hardcore medicinal chemistry and pharmacology.... and getting fukking nowhere.

I have 7 pharmacists in my doctor of dental medicine degree, who quit pharmacy due to the chit condition of it in Australia at the moment. Their average annual salary coming out of uni was a piss-poor $48k/year.

No where near the stratosphere of what a graduate dentist here earns.

You have no idea how much politics and insurance waste the lives of doctors every day. And push them to the brink of burnout and changing careers.

Whatever bro, that's the mentality everyone goes into medical school with - but somehow end up in the career with the highest suicide rate, for which by last poll - >60% were burnt out and ready to change their profession.

You really have no freakin clue do you? Sure, it sounds awesome on paper - but you have no idea of the hoops and hurdles that take priority to simply 'practice medicine' or 'save lives'as you like to put it.

Yes, I actually do have a decent idea of the politics etc behind the area of medicine. I have family and friends in the profession lol.

I have WORKED WITH cardiologists, surgeons, sleep physicians, occupational health physicians, general practitioners, and even haematologists.

Their pay > virtually every other career except say... specialist in dentistry/investment banker/successful businessman. And I have a pretty fukking good idea of just how hard it is to get into medical school, and the "hurdles" that exist to students before they graduate, and even start applying for specialty fellowships... after working several years >70 hours/week at hospital.

I LIVE WITH MEDICAL STUDENTS.

I also have an ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON in my dental school cohort. He wants to be a maxillo-facial surgeon now (requiring BOTH a medical AND dental degree here in Australia... plus the Max-Fac fellowship after).

Children are often scared lol. I never quite understood this - I always like going to the dentist as a kid and getting my teeth cleaned.

Adults are also a bit wary of them, but view it as a respected profession that requires a high degree of education, expertise, manual dexterity and emotional intelligence (empathy etc).

A family friend who is 32 years old is the CEO of 5 dental practices in my home state and pulls in a bit over $500k/year.

One of my endodontic lecturers is a millionaire, who patented a new technology in the field of endodontics. Her salary is over $500k/year.



Dentists in general earn much, much more than lawyer counterparts.

As for your "dorky stigma" comment, that's largely a matter of opinion, and not a generally held belief.

The only part of your post I agree with is dentists vs doctors. That said - we tend to live a much better work/life balance than they do

Seems to me the word prestigious was confused with 'honorable / respected " etc. like farming, teaching, police, firefighting, nurse are not at all 'prestigious' yet very 'honorable / respected' yet they seemed to score very well.. Congressmen, Actor, Athlete seem much more 'prestigious' than how they scored.
